As the 2023 general elections were getting closer, the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu urged his constituents and supporters to shun any form of violence but to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to defend their preferred candidates at their respective polling units.
Egwu gave the charge at the 2022 end-of-the-year party which has become an annual ritual since he assumed office as the Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
The 2022 edition of the end year party which provided the opportunity for Egwu to celebrate his constituents and as well enable him to render his account of stewardship was held at his Umuebe Izziangbo country home.
While appreciating his constituents for their support, the Senator said he would continue to initiate and embark on projects and programmes capable of improving their welfare.
He further encouraged his constituents to collect and guard jealously, their PVCs which, according to him, would give them the power to choose their leaders during the elections.
Senator Egwu announced the gift of one million Naira, bags of rice, as well as cows each to the four local government areas under the zone at the 2022 edition of the end year celebration which attracted political leaders from Ebonyi North District and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as well as other contestants of various positions under the party.
In their remarks, the former Senator representing the zone, Senator Ngiji Ngele, the two National Assembly members, Chief Sylvester Ogbaga and Chief Chukwuma Nwazunku among other speakers, eulogized the quality representation of Senator Egwu and his peaceful dispositions which they said have been contributing to the political stabilities of the state.
Also, the state PDP governorship candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii who observed that power comes from God, said his emergence as the standard flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming general election is for a purpose which Ebonyi people will never regret.
Odii equally donated a sum of 500 thousand Naira to each of the council areas of the Ebonyi North Senatorial zone as part of celebrating the end-year party with them.
Different cultural groups performed to make the event more colourful.
