From Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki
Two strong politicians from the Ebonyi APC and PDP, Hon Uchenna Nshi and Prince Maurice Mbam respectively have openly announced their readiness to canvas massively for the landslide victory of the Labour Party candidates, especially the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the state governorship flagbearer, Architect Edward Nkwegu and the House of Representatives Candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency - Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh.
Hon Nshi was the House of Representatives candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in 2019 while Prince Mbam aspired to be the flag bearer of the same position in 2023 under the umbrella of the PDP in the state.
The duo with over thousands of their adherents declared their full support for the Labour Party candidates at the weekend during the breakfast consultative briefing by Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, the Labour Party candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in Abakaliki town.
Nshi said even though he remains a strong member of the APC, he would ensure that the Labour Party House of Representatives candidate, Ezeh wins a landslide in his area, "because the 2023 election will be based on character, competence, capacity and commitment of every candidate" in the nation building and development.
"I am a director of the campaign council of his (Dr Ezeh's) opponent but I will not support a failure. Everybody knows Immaculate (Dr Ezeh) is a human developer, capacity builder and generally, a great philanthropist even though he started from a scratch as an entrepreneur.
"I want to assure you, the Labour Party family that I am completely Obidient. Obidient movement is more than party affiliation, and I'm sure Peter Obi and Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh will win a landslide in my poling unit, so, we are going to canvas massively for their victory in our area," Nshi assured.
On his part, Prince Maurice Mbam who corroborated with Nshi observed that the Abakaliki local government area has occupied their House of Representatives seat for sixteen years and maintained that the position should be shifted to the Izzi council area in 2023, believing that Dr Ezeh would deliver if given the mandate at the polls.
He commended Dr Ezeh for his philanthropic gestures, as he restated his commitment to ensuring his successful emergence alongside the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of the party, Architect Edward Nkwegu.
Mbam described the trio as men of outstanding character, competence, capacity and commitment, in considering their present and past antecedents while canvassing against election violence in the state.
While unveiling his legislative agenda, the Labour Party candidate for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency, Dr Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh said, he would aggressively pursue the improvement of life for his constituents including the indigenes and non-indigenes through a unique sense of purpose and goal-oriented parliamentary representation.
He said that his legislative focus would be on both National and Regional issues affecting his constituents.
"It will focus on phenomenal constituency projects, such as my family first initiative, STEAM Education and Youth Empowerment for Productivity."
"While my family-first initiative shall be intensive enlightenment and empowerment programmes that would strengthen family institutions within my constituency. The STEAM Education initiative shall focus on the aggressive promotion of a unique approach to education that combines science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics in guiding students to develop practical problem-solving skills. The passion from the youths - the 'soro soke' generation is also my core propelling force in the quest to serve and I shall stop at nothing in harnessing the youths of Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency to achieve their dreams and become men and women in the world they would be proud of. This is what my youth empowerment for productivity is all about," Ezeh explained.
The Labour Party House of Representatives Candidate restated his conviction that an Igboman would emerge as Nigeria's president, while Izhiman would emerge as the governor of Ebonyi State and he himself, would win the seat for Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections.
He said their emergence would be considered as a great victory and breakthrough for the people, saying "this is how God shall restore to us the painful years of retrogrades, wheeler dealers, criminal elites' promoted class patronage.
"However, if Peter Obi loses, then it will be clear that Nigeria is beyond redemption, or that the criminal elites are great in the majority or better described Nigeria is a paradise habited by gangsters, and Somalia is a cup we must drink from."
He, therefore, urged his constituents and other citizens of Nigeria especially those from Ebonyi State to brace up every possibility to enthrone a credible leadership in the country by getting their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to vote Peter Obi for Presidency and himself for House of Representatives to change the ugly narratives outweighing the nation.
Recall that the state governorship flag bearer of the Labour Party, Architect Edward Nkwegu who attended the occasion, commended the bold decision by the APC and PDP chieftains for throwing their weight behind Peter Obi and some Labour Party candidates including himself in Ebonyi to liberate Nigeria particularly the State from abject poverty in 2023.
He equally lauded Dr Ezeh, the 2023 Labour Party House of Representatives hopeful for his doggedness in championing the Obidient Movement in his constituency and assured Ebonyi citizens of rapid industrialisation of the state, massive employment and empowerment of youths, women and vulnerable persons; providing enabling environment for business dealers, and launching innovative esprits to enhance talents if emerged as governor in 2023.
Also, the Director General of Ezeh's campaign council for the 2023 election - Ifegachi Campaign Organisation, Barrister Luke Adonwe, the Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Peter Oyon, among other speakers at the occasion applauded the decision of the APC and PDP stalwarts for adopting Peter Obi, Edward Nkwegu and Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh as their sole candidates in 2023 regardless of their party fractions.
They urged all and sundry to endeavour to obtain their PVCs to elect credible candidates into different elective positions at the 2023 polls without minding their political affiliations or backgrounds in considering equity, fairness and social justice in the state.
