On media recapture of previous political position agreement, on gubernatorial race in Ebonyi State today, Lawrence Egede writes why Speaker Francis Nwifuru will succeed Governor David Umahi in 2023.
LR: Governor David Umahi and Speaker Francis Nwifuru.
Don't brush this message aside, we are the same people of Ebonyi State and not from elsewhere than this place.
Not only that we are one as a people with love for equity, but the word of God also bears witness to it in truth and spirit concerning this fact about us everywhere.
Apart from the political parties around us, which should not divide our heritage against each other for any reason whatsoever, this is our collective natural domain.
I am not in the group that calls anybody the best candidate for a political position, but I am one of those people that believe in the truth, equity, natural justice and fairness.
Let me go straight to the point of what I am saying here, just before politicians and their followers will start to crucify me as usual in their minds, or in public places where they may find it convenient to do so.
I could remember that during the political campaign exercises for the 2019 Gubernatorial elections, something happened at Nkwoegu in Abakaliki LGA.
Going back to memory lane I remembered that at the venue of the campaign, the first civilian Governor of Ebonyi State Dr Sam, Ominyi Egwu raised the issue of equity.
He said to the audience that after the tenure of Governor Umahi, the next place to take a turn should be Ebonyi North.
This is one reason on the table because other spokespersons agreed and there was a vote of general approval, which everybody also applauded without objections and no exception on that very day.
I believe that many persons were witnesses and still alive, who were present on the day the collective agreement was reached.
God was there that day and He is still there today, his word in the biblical book of the 1st John chapter 5 verse 9 says: "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater."
Those who were there should also bear me witness but if not, the bible stated in the book of Prophet Jeremiah chapter 42 verse 5; "Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD our God shall send thee to us."
The message is now clear and if there be any defiance, and for the fact that an agreement is a law which must be obeyed, it must be done accordingly.
We must, therefore, bear in mind the unbelief of the gentiles who God told us in the biblical book of Romans chapter 2 verse 15 about them; "Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing or else excusing one another."
This is now a divine issue and so, if there were objections thereafter over the collective agreement reached at Nkwoegu school ground in 2019, such didn't come to my knowledge from anywhere, even by accident till today.
One cogent reason to put into the proper place of unavoidable consideration should be the fact that going by the general agreement, the good people of Ebonyi State have no alternative than to collectively vote for Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru.
Another obvious reason is that Governor Umahi has obeyed us and decided as agreed upon, to give the ticket for the position of the governorship to Ebonyi North without any further argument.
Those politicians who are particularly from Ebonyi North that renege on one ticket, but decided on a divided we fall slot should know that togetherness is strength to infallibility.
They must unite now under one roof and enforce the law of agreement, not segregation.
This is also because, throughout the time that the 2019 campaign lasted and after, there wasn't any known contrary opinion against the collective agreement.
And till late there were no signs of objection, apart from the recent political whistleblow that brought in different oppositions to the floor of the Gubernatorial competitions in Ebonyi State.
Any other place that should be a good reason as a follow-up agenda, is to consider giving equity a good chance in the truth of the matter, allow peace to reign and eschew political bitterness and opposition.
Let it be noted as a collective watchword to rule over our general consciences in the political matters of the DTOs to agree still stand firmly with every one of us in Ebonyi State.
This is not because other political parties are not also having and fielding qualified candidates, but for the earlier agreement, let it stand as a witness for us to do the right thing without fear or favour against the truth of the matter.
I am neither here to impress a particular group, nor provoke the anger of anybody against me, or prick people to call me different animalistic names as usual, but to present the truth.
Critics may say that my truth is a history not current, but whether history or current the truth has no time limit to become correct, sure and faithful in everything.
None of the critics can say that the truth is no longer the same if they too will seek justice at any time and anywhere possible.
So, as it is possible yesterday for the truth to be told, it is also good for today, tomorrow and forever to tell the truth before God and mankind, no matter what goes on at any time.
You may be in another political party or camp, you may say you hate my reasons, or you may say you don't like Governor Umahi.
Furthermore, you may say that you have no business with Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru, you may say you don't like APC.
In your mind you may say you are not from Ebonyi North, or that you are also from there like the APC Guber Candidate, you may say you are opposing him because he isn't your choice.
In addition, you may say you are scared like me at the initial stage for sake of divided political interest in the Izzi clan.
But as it is now, all of us have a responsibility to bear in truth, without going the wrong and different ways of choices.
Finally, it's not a matter of being in opposition, but to vote one subject of our collective previous agreement and a united bargain, so long as the incumbent Governor did not reject him as a wrong choice.
Mark, you that the choice of Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru as it stands with God shouldn't be seen as Governor Umahi's making alone, but as a result of the agreement even though they are now in APC, which is not an obstacle to the divine truth.
It was PDP that started it and every mature person in politics should know about it, but we are talking about equity and agreement, not party matters particularly.
Today no matter the political party of belonging, Hon. Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru has been presented to us from Ebonyi North, in obedience to our collective agreement.
With the above analysis of facts and figures, we must do the right thing at the right time and in the right way, by voting for a more humble young man from the Ebonyi North, the Right Honourable Francis Ogbonnia Nwifuru as the next governor of Ebonyi State.
To God is the glory forever.
