The senatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Lazarus Ogbee, contesting for Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, has ahead of the 25th February and 11th March; 2023 general election berated the All Progressives Congress, APC's led federal government and governor David Umahi over alleged bad governance.
He frowned on the continued hike in prices of fuel, food items and other goods in Ebonyi state, and however, tasked governor David Umahi to eradicate poverty in the state before leaving office.
Ogbee, a house of representatives member, who represented Ezza South/Ikwo federal constituency in the national assembly, made this known while addressing stakeholders and teeming supporters during the final Unity cup match, between the IDA team vs Agbakoro team, that took place at Amazekwe primary school, Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi state.
The senatorial candidate, Ogbee, stated that the 'Unity cup match' was initiated in 2008 to empower thousands of youths of the Ezza South local government area.
He however released a huge sum of money to the Agbakoro team who won the competition with one goal and charged the youths to always maintain peace and order for the progress of the community and the state in general.
The ex-house of representatives member, Ogbee, however, revealed that he dumped Umahi's administration as a result of alleged bad governance.
He tasked the governor to rethink and should dismantle some of the flyovers in the state and use the money to empower the people of the state.
Similarly, Ogbee urged the youths of the area to go and collect their permeant Voters cards, and PVCs, to enable them to vote for the candidates of their choice, to come to the 2023 general election.
According to him: "By tomorrow, we will bring INEC people to come here and distribute the PVCs. We want you people to do your best, to come and collect your PVCs, because that's the only thing that can empower you to vote. The PVCs will enable you to vote for candidates of your choice.
"Do your best to vote for candidates of your choice. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is the only party that has done you well in the past.
"The governorship candidate of PDP, in Ebonyi state is Mr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii. And if you like the hike in prices of fuel, and other goods like; garri, and rice as well as the increase in transportation, then vote APC to increase your suffering, but God forbid.
"You should know that no other political party, ever won an election in Ebonyi state since 1998 till date. It has been PDP.
Ogbee however, tasked the governor, Umahi to discontinue his ambition in the construction of more fly-overs, and should use the money to eradicate poverty in the state before leaving office.
"If you build a hundred fly-overs and the people are living in poverty, have you done anything, no. Provide enabling funds for the people to eat; buy vehicles, motorcycles, and even bicycles to enable them to clamp the fly-overs.
"You don't build flyovers for the lizards, flies to clamp. David Umahi should have rethought. he should dismantle some of the flyovers and use the money to empower the people so that people can eat and be strong to clamp the remaining flyovers.
"We supported him (Umahi) to become governor, but when he was not doing the right thing, I left him (Umahi). There is no amount of money he can give to confuse me. It's better I stayed with my people than to remain with him and get corrupted.
"I told him (Umahi) that I can't work with you any longer, and I thank God that I left on time, otherwise, the fracture I had in my leg would have been worst. I walked on crutches for one year. While in clutches, God gave me victory to fly the flag of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, as the senatorial candidate of the party for Ebonyi Central senatorial zone.
He vowed to bring greater development and transformation to the four (4) Local Government Areas that made up Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, if emerged winner in the February 25th general election.
