The Director-General of the New Nigeria Peoples Party( NNPP) in Ebonyi State, Dr Innocent Ogboji has decamped from the party and declared for the People's Democratic Party( PDP).
This was contained in a statement by Abia Onyike, the Director of Media and Publicity, at Anyichuks Grassroot Support Organisation, which has begun going viral on social media.
The statement further read: "The former NNPP Director-General said he left his former Party to join forces with his old political allies to inaugurate a new political order in the state.
Dr Ogboji, a strong politician from Ikwo LGA was a Governorship Aspirant in the state in 2007 but stepped down for Chief Martin Elechi which made it possible for the latter to emerge as the second civilian Governor of the state.
Dr Ogboji said he was proud to identify with the new political movement in the PDP led by the Governorship Candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii.
He described Dr Odii as a credible leader based on his pedigree and mode of operations and noted that his Deputy Governorship Candidate, Sen Paulinus Igwe Nwagu is an outstanding politician and statesman. He stated that their coming together on a joint ticket has already made a difference.
With this latest development, the PDP in Ebonyi state is gradually but consistently coasting to victory in the 2023 General Elections, following the new wave which has brought many political heavyweights endorsing the Governorship bid of Dr Odii.
A few days ago, one of the Founding Fathers of Ebonyi State and Member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Felix Mgbada addressed a Press Conference in his country home at Umuoghara, Ezza North LGA, where he endorsed Dr Odii and other PDP Candidates for the 2023 general elections.
In the same vein, the former Commissioner for Works in the State and former Governorship Aspirant, Engr Dr Paul Okorie has resigned from APC and is getting set to declare for the PDP.
Then from outside our shores, the Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora also endorsed Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as their candidate for the 2023 elections. This was contained in a Press Statement signed by the leader of the Association, Ambassador Pascal Oluchukwu.
