The Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu has begun another phase of establishing Multipurpose Skill Acquisition Centers across the four Local Government Areas of Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
It would be recalled that Senator Egwu has built and equipped five Skill Acquisition Centres in selected communities of the four Local Government Areas of Abakaliki, Ebonyi, Izzi and Ohaukwu that make up Ebonyi North Senatorial District. He has also installed over forty electric transformers, one hundred and twenty hand pump boreholes, thirty eight motorized boreholes, town halls, over three hundred solar street lights, road networks and regular training and empowerment programs among others.
In a ground breaking ceremony at Ngbo Court area, Ngbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Senator Egwu said the gesture is to enable his constituents especially the youths engage themselves in different vocational studies so as to become self reliant.
The Senator who was represented by his Senior Legislative Assistant, Mr Morgan Nwankwo, expressed joy over the magnanimity of Ngbo people in his political journey and lauded the promptness in donating their land for the construction of the skill acquisition center.
The multipurpose skill acquisition center is located at Ngbo Court Area of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Ebonyi State.
"This is part of the Constituency project of Dr Sam Egwu. He has built many projects in Ngbo in the past and he is not relenting. By the time this skill acquisition center starts producing people who will become employers of labour in the nearest future, that is when you will know what Senator Egwu has done for the people of Ohaukwu and Ebonyi State at Large.
"This project will equally be sited at the three other Local Government Areas of Ebonyi North," Nwankwo said.
The President of Ngbo Leaders Council, Dr Okeh C. Okeh represented by, Barrister Micheal Odoh said they were moved to donate the land as part of their contribution to the development of their place and people.
He urged the Senator not to be distracted in his good works but to continue to uplift his constituents in different capacities.
He prayed for the success of Egwu's ambition
to be re-elected for Senate during the forthcoming election.
The Secretary of the Amalgamated Ngboejeogu Youth, Comrade Samuel Okpor thanked the Senator for bringing Such a center for innovative skills to their land.
"This Project is going to develop our people to become financially independent and as well create employment among our youths".
"When you engage youths in this type of meaningful venture, you are indirectly fighting all manner of social vices and crimes because when people are busy, they think less of crime."
"People who want to learn tailoring, shoe making, plumbing, electrical work and other skills not mentioned here will no longer find it difficult to do so. To the glory of God, Ngbo clan has donated this land for the project". Okpor added.
The ground breaking ceremony was attended by people from various Communities in Ngbo.
