Pertaining the media overview of the hurtful economic report and the bad politics of the day in Nigeria, Lawrence Egede writes.
What happened to Nigeria and her economy didn't start today, our previous leaders misused their political intellect in the first republic, not aware of the traps that the colonial business masters set against the nation's independent commercial trade activities and the future market transactions.
The traps were set for a gradual and, or total withdrawal of all investments, the interest in external business development growth and services domiciled in Nigeria.
It was aimed at leaving the local transactions bestial, only if there should be a time that any form of Criminal Upsurge and Security Challenges may begin to threaten lives and properties, as well hamper economic progression in the country.
That was a deliberate danger that the colonial business masters planted, knowing full well that mental laziness and political power drunkenness will eventually plunge Nigeria into the predictive red trap.
Right from the onset after Independence, it was the way politics, positions of power and authority were handled all along that destroyed the economic life of the nation with capital ineptitude.
The early Politicians proudly introduced a system of mirror government, based only on the impression that political power is everything and the ultimate.
As time went on, it became a feast of very desperate and crazy shows of irrelevant intellectual waste and arrogance, followed by unnecessarily localized popularity with unwarranted pride, sacred cow habit, flamboyant living, wealth acquisition, use of excessive power advantage, position grabbing competition, personal aggrandizement encouraging materialism with uncivilized attitude, political noisemaking, sycophancy, unfriendly partisan activities which continued till today, acute division of interest, public deceit, obnoxious display of luxury and comfort, ceremonial class distinction, a social misnomer, pretence, blatant falsehood, self-centeredness, sectional sabotage, unholy religious demarcation, ignorance, neglect and official misfeasance in all corridors of authority.
The problems ruined good characters, corrupted a lot of people, created a high level of indiscipline and bred a lavish mentality with awful economic irresponsibility in Nigeria.
This time around, right from the moment that the younger politicians were schemed out of the Presidential primaries of the two mega political parties, my spirit told me they have no democratic good news for us in this country.
The modern political systems in Nigeria today don't need the continued Presidential seat of power, to be headed anymore by the elderly ones because it is burdensome, costly and risky.
Elders, who have been in any political position are supposed to sponsor the younger ones in politics to replace them better.
No reasonable elder who is experienced won't be hurt at heart, especially if he has been eventually disappointed over the ever-lingering bad case report of the political and economic condition of Nigeria.
The younger generation may not have been aware of the strength, the purchasing power and the past market face value of the naira bargain, in the nation's domestic economy and the external trade environments, compared with the worthless volume of financial condition this time around.
The bouncing state, or the liveliness or the good health condition of any nation's economy reduces poverty, creates employment, boosts people's morale at work, assures them genuine satisfaction and minimizes security challenges.
Today's morbid state of the nation's economy is hurtful to the masses. It has created more grave complexities in the Safety rules and regulations on the Security Situation Report of the nation.
The few big questions are how will Nigerians survive under the present escalating cost effects on goods and services on daily basis, and who bails the Cat from the cage of the stinking sordid economic graveyard?
Who amongst the happening multimillionaires, Billionaires, those Trillion Cash business old lords who are richer than the country, those that feel they control the nation's wealth can volunteer to save Nigeria now from the grips of the economic crunches?
Must they continue to invest in political power contests and rivalries for themselves alone at their frail ages, to become everything for everybody while the younger ones back down, as other fellow Nigerians, are suffering and dying daily?
Must they continue to invest only in their comfort, aloof of the dangers in it and under the ensuing fracas, emanating from the high level of economic provocations in the country?
Apart from some reasonably rich younger ones in politics and business circles, who have tried a lot to reduce the sufferings of fellow Nigerians, but can't do more than they can offer, how many wealthy old gurus have been able to help the country and contributed to save or rescue people from all abject levels of poverty?
How many of the aged ones who are still playing politics today, under health burdens will show evidence based on the investments they have so far made, to improve the lives of the citizens by beating prices low in the dead economy of Nigeria?
But they can mount the Soapboxes anywhere and then promise heaven on earth to the masses, who are already in a mess of economic anguish, over the worsening situation report about the ugly state of the nation's economy.
Must they continue to try and blindfold people because of their immediate political and economic advantages, which oftentimes take them abroad for medical checkups and health recovery treatments?
Must they continue to invest in medical trips abroad, to be rejuvenated back to newer ages, for fuller engagements in the political leadership of the new times in the nation?
Must they continue like that overlooking the abilities of the younger generation, even when age is no longer in their favour?
Must they continue like that, even when the increasing and visible reactionary tendencies of the younger generation have become crazy, because of the nonstop harmful frustration effects on the people daily?
Must they continue to fly high above the map of Nigeria, even when they are seeing that the economy is descending too low upon the heads of the nation's innocent citizens?
Must they continue like that even when the nation is on the verge of collapse, if not for the credible efforts of the Armed Forces?
Every credit for peace and security measures goes to the Armed Forces of Nigeria, who are still sustaining the little life in the frail stability and fragile unity of the nation.
The Armed Forces are also neutrally embalming the nation's remains, probably to preserve the dead economic body and the political carcass of Nigeria's life already in the social coffin at the morgue.
But the rich old politicians that should retire and sponsor the younger generation in politics, are busy quarrelling over the diverse overflow of the rotten political spilt milk on the floor of the nation's administration.
Must they continue to show ingratitude to God at their age with defiance in the nation's political matters, in which they ought to be the only reliable mediators, against any wrongdoing by the younger ones that could be causing some security challenges in the country?
Must they continue like that even when they are also not safe if caught unawares, under the raging inferno of the present security challenges in the country?
Must they continue to play politics of self first, and neglect their fatherhood responsibilities to the younger generation and other people in the nation?
They seem to have forgotten their right position as Elder Statesmen, who should stand as the pillars of politics in the nation and defend the course of the nation's sovereignty.
Some people not affected by the effect of the ugly economic circumstances, and who are not yet hurt may not understand the difference, between the untold stories of hardship with the pains in it and enjoying maximum comfort.
Those doing their businesses in the country freely may not be feeling the pain, but still, they know it because of the harsh economic effects on things.
I have experienced the downtrodden economic effect on the businesses of the day in Nigeria for a long. I discovered that a greater percentage of the masses are struggling and also suffering too much to survive.
God forbid that the masses in Nigeria should continue to face more deadly economic hurt on daily basis, with prize hikes on every item and in every moment without remedy.
Most of the service providers such as Electricity power suppliers, Telecommunication Industries, Manufacturers of essential consumer goods, Distributors and Service Agents are always running into serious troubles of service movement and security challenges, hence ensuring that heavy Inflationary liabilities are shifted to the poor masses enforcing the increase of costs on the helpless populace.
This is one major aspect that the elderly authorities should be advising the younger politicians to address, instead of pretending not to know but they know that all is not well with the nation's economy and that the masses are suffering.
Some young leaders who know or knew about the aching problem and worked hard, aiming at finding solutions to it and stemming the tide couldn't succeed, because the bad body language of the economy in the country continued to get worse each day.
If the problems continue like this any longer without any amendment, the doom will be very high to bear and the masses who are hurt daily will one day trigger off unexpected unrest with unhindered chaos.
We can anticipate that if there is any civil unrest, the next thing could be a new event of sudden military intervention as before.
I suspect that the younger generation, who have got the opportunity to be rich amongst the new crops of the political generation seem to be quiet because they need to save their souls first come what may.
Ever since the old political powers took control over the nation's economy, things have not changed for the better with the masses and which is now enormously disastrous.
The competitions have been hell on earth for the masses, because of those aspiring to be more crafty to become better, smarter, richer, bigger, stronger, tougher, wiser and to be named among those in total control of the major economic hubs in the nation's marketplaces.
It has never been easy for almost 80% of the entire masses, who are always trying to survive the hurtful state of the economy in the country.
This is the time for the real citizens of Nigeria to react by boycotting the "boycott ables," reserving their appetite for a better economic bargain, fighting for political sanity in the nation and being freed from the bondage of corrupt Administrations.
To God is the glory forever.
