Nigerian youths have been urged to build a society anchored on equal rights and social justice to harness the tension arising from the outcomes of the 2023 general elections in the country.
This was one of the leading pieces of advice given to the Nigerian youths by Professor Anthony Igyuve, the Lecturer of the Department of Mass Communication, Nassarawa State University during the peace interactive programme organised by the Peace for Free Initiative at Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Tuesday.
Professor Igyuve explained that the Peace for Free initiative was conceived following the outcome of the 2023 presidential election to address some issues, especially the conflict impulses capable of spanning the stability of the country.
The University Don, however, commended the organizers of the Peace for Free initiative, for having considered it important that Nigerian youths need to embark on a national peace initiative by interacting with the aggrieved youths especially the Ebonyi residents to build and sustain peace within the state and the country at large.
Recall that the non-governmental organization otherwise known as the Peace for Free initiative had in the earlier hours of Tuesday engaged Ebonyi youths on a free interactive programme on peace-building.
According to the Founder of the Peace for Free Initiative, Chief Chris Oge Kalu, the programme was organised to reduce the tension coming from the Nigerian youths because of their ill-perceived outcomes of the just concluded presidential election in the country.
Chief Kalu said he was motivated to organize the programme to promote peace in Nigeria, especially now that the 2023 general elections have come and gone.
"I place so much value in Nigeria and Nigerian youths must work together to restore total peace in the country, despite the outcome of the 2023 general elections, especially the presidential poll," he said.
Mr Kalu, further stated that the Peace for Free Initiative aims at enlightening Nigerian youths who felt that they wasted their time and energy in casting votes during the 2023 polls but at the end of the day, expressed displeasure with the outcome of the exercise.
He urged the aggrieved youths to embrace peace, especially those who felt that electoral malpractices if not checked, will cause more negative harm to the country.
"Every Nigerian youth should embrace peace despite what might have transpired during the 2023 elections, and move on with normal life even with or without election protests," the founder added.
