On media personal advocacy for fresh generous governance in Ebonyi State, Lawrence Egede writes.
I say the Ebonyi State humble Governor-elect, because of the way he appears in character.
He will receive his certificate of returns and of victory in the just concluded Guber elections in Nigeria today, from the Head office of INEC in Ebonyi State.
I sincerely congratulate him and also thank the people of Ebonyi State, for their Support and Solidarity behind the new Governor-Elect to success.
We are going into the fourth Era of civil rule in Ebonyi State, with the hope to further make greater progress in the future.
Today marks the beginning of a new leadership certification in Ebonyi State. Ebonyi is a place where nobody has suffered marginalization of any sort since its inception as a State.
Right from the military era and to the civilian regimes starting with Dr Sam. O Egwu, and up to Chief Martin Nwancho Elechi and Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, Ebonyi State has seen a lot of tougher challenges in the sectors of new developments.
The challenges were political, social, economic, communal and societal because of human shortcomings at one time or other, but in all said and done the State has been forging ahead progressively.
I am delighted to say that the State witnessed tremendous development miracles of God, especially in the government of Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi upon all the adverse economic predicaments in Nigeria.
The three civilian regimes did well, with the equipment in their official possessions in the administration of Ebonyi State.
It has not been roses all the while, because of the global factors of the International and National business politics of the day, soaring high daily in the marketplaces.
Somehow, many people don't know that the high cost of the new developments emanated from what went wrong, with different economies of the world and as related to the Nigerian factor.
High-cost effects on the new developments in Nigeria with the ugly dimensions took the nation's economy for a ride, the fact that the planners relied on immediate political profits.
It started with all the security challenges, to the low and high-income earnings of the society, the poverty rate, and the high cost of living, with a human appetite for luxury and comfort in the face of the raging economic adversities bedevilling Nigeria.
Those enumerations were the crux of the problems in Nigeria, where some are smiling while others are gnashing their teeth, in a country of plenty but found in penury and bankruptcy.
The ugly situation increased with corruption and crime wave dazing the nation into a state of coma. The solution is still far.
I humbly wish to advise the incoming Governor to be very careful in his regime, watch the economy, and be prudent, wise and conscious of the happenings.
Let him and his Cabinet put aside domestic politics in all its ramifications, and focus good attention on seeking solutions to the problems of the State.
Leadership is not all about the use of power and authority as ifFournal thing to face many challenges, but it is mainly for accountable good governance.
In fact, four things await his administration; One is to abide by the law of Equity, Justice and Fairness in Ebonyi State.
The third is to maintain the existing high-quality status of development so far in Ebonyi State.
In third place let falsehood, anger, bitterness, vengeance, acrimony and marginalization be avoided in Ebonyi State.
Fourthly, is to make sure that Ebonyi State is Crime free, to attract Investors into the State. Security, Peace and Unity should be everybody's priority.
Politics, Partisan patronage, ethnicity, selfishness and class distinction should be avoided.
Class Distinction is dangerous and instils unnecessary fears in society. It is a weapon of an unfortunate scare, to know the truth about what goes on in any administration and society.
It is shameful that out of about two hundred million population of people in the nation, a very low turnout of eligible voters was recorded at the polls in the 2023 general elections. It then shows a lack of interest, perhaps because of Class Distinction in a way. That's what I suspect.
Class Distinction is awful to public feelings and it was never used by Governor Umahi. That's why he excelled and succeeded to this extent, despite all the critical situations the regime faced all along.
In light of the above, I wish the incoming administration a huge success in her projects.
To God is the glory forever.
