The officers-in-charge (OIC) of the health facilities in Ebonyi has commended the operational system of the United States Agency for International Development - Integrated Health Programme (USAID-IHP) in the State.
They made the commendation on Monday at the New Heavens Hotels in Abakaliki during the 2023 Facility Level Pause and Reflect Session by the USAID-IHP with the officers in charge of the health facilities in the Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone of the State.
Speaking with journalists at the end of the programme, Mr Cletus Igwe, an Officer-in-Charge of the Ndiebovu Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Health Facility in Izzi Local Government Area of the State, said the event had helped the health workers to evaluate their working activities, noting that it holds quarterly according to the USAID-IHP's annual calendar.
"This is a period we look around and evaluate the services we render in our facilities. The IHP through this program takes us back to all the services including immunisation, family planning, antenatal care, delivery, and other services we render in the health facilities in our various areas within the three months were reviewed. You can see all the Officers in charge from Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone are gathered with joy to benefit from this programme."
Also, the Officer in Charge of Ndingele MDGs Health Facility in Izzi LGA, Mrs Grace Ogbangba said the programme helped the beneficiaries to upgrade their knowledge, for better health service delivery in their offices, especially on family planning, tracking of pregnant women and case referral techniques among others.
She commended the USAID-IHP team for their impactful training and sensitization of the health workers in the state and described the agency as one of the major contributors to her advanced knowledge in the field. "I thank the USAID-IHP, because without this agency, I would have not learnt all these, the presence of the IHP in our health facility has increased the ANC attendance and more delivery in my area."
Lending her voice, Mrs Nebechi Nweke, an Officer-in-Charge of the Ijinike MDGs Health Facility in Ohaukwu LGA, commended the USAID-IHP team with her colleagues whom she said, they come together in such a training programme had enriched them with important expository and evaluation of the good health tips and techniques in delivering services in their area.
