The gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) during the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi, Engr Chukwuma Nwandugo has recommended that the incoming government of the State should prioritize peace-building with a combative spirit to reduce poverty in the state.
Nwandugo who later stepped down for the Ebonyi State Governor-elect under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru before the Saturday, March 18 polls, urged his administration to prioritise job creation and cater for the general welfare of the citizens to make them happy.
The former Commissioner for Works and Transportation in an interview with the NATIONAL PANEL on the areas, the incoming administration should make more improvements in Ebonyi, at the weekend, maintained that the industrialisation of the State would reduce unemployment and poverty in the State to the barest minimum.
According to him, the number one priority of the incoming administration in Ebonyi State should be the creation of jobs and making the people happy, reducing poverty, and unemployment, and taking care of workers' welfare; how to achieve them, is to create industries.
He emphasized the need for the incoming government to embark on massive employment and ensure workers earn a good living, as well as reduce number of the people hawking in the streets and those engaging in criminal activities.
"The summary is that the incoming Ebonyi State government should create jobs for human beings and make sure people partake in the dividends of democracy. The government should ensure peace returns to the state, because when peace returns to the State, all progress will follow," Nwandugo further emphasized.
He also urged the next administration in Ebonyi to reactivate the Oferekpe Water Scheme in Ikwo LGA, ensuring the completion of the Okawa Water Scheme in Onicha LGA, and reticulate the water to Ebonyi homes to end the lack of potable water in the state.
