Odunwa's emergence was unopposed following the nomination made by the member representing Edda West State Constituency, Nkemka Okoro Onumara and seconded by Godwin Abiri of Izzi West State Constituency.
Also, a member representing Ohaukwu South State Constituency, Hon Chinedu Onah was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the House.
While Kingsley Ikoro of Afikpo West emerged as the Leader of the House and Joseph Ununu of Abakaliki South was elected as the Deputy Leader without opposition.
But Nkemka Okoro Onumara of Edda West State Constituency became the Chief Whip as Lucas Chukwu of Ishielu South emerged as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House unopposed.
The 24 lawmakers of the House were present during the election of their principal officers. They are comprised of 18 APC, 3 PDP, 2 APGA and one Labour Party member.
Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Patricia Anasi said the election of the principal officers was conducted in respect to Section 92 (1) of the 1999 Constitution Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
