The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on internal security, Afikpo North Local Government Area, Mr Obinna Okoenyim has warned youths to desist from indulging in cultism, intake of illicit drugs among other harmful practices in their interest and for the betterment of the Council and the State at large.
He gave the warning on Sunday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital interacting with newsmen.
He called on youths who are in the possession of unauthorized or illegal firearms to go and hand them over to the nearest police station or contact him to lead them to do so for the overall peace and development of the State.
He further warned the people of the Council who belong to any illegal association or cult group to immediately denounce the membership and wait for inclusion in the governance of Ebonyi State.
His words: "I am appealing to our youths to desist from cultism and hard drugs such as methamphetamine (mkpurummiri) India hemp, cannabis and other hard drugs for the good of the lives and the society"
"The administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru is anchored on the youths and we must unite and keep our hands clean to benefit from it. The security of Ebonyi State is the collective duty of all and sundry and you need to be part of it."
He maintained that the present administration under the leadership of Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is youths oriented government in which all youths should be united and ensure peace among one another to reap the dividends of democracy.
He appealed to the youths and the good people of Afikpo North Local Government Area to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in every part of the council and also remain supportive of the policies and programmes of the present administration to move the State forward.
