The new Commissioner for Lands and Survey in Ebonyi State, Chief Matthew Nwobashi on Wednesday assumed office with prayers and assured his staff of their welfare.
Nwobashi recalled that he was a civil servant before he occupied various positions including his new office.
He, however, urged the workers in the ministry to work hard to be exemplary in rendering services to the state and announced that his office would observe a reward system for the best workers without fear or favour.
The Commissioner said: "The welfare of workers will be my top priority because I have been a civil servant, and I know their needs.
"I solicit your maximum support, and under my watch, I will not tolerate poor attitudes to work; but every hard work staff must be rewarded."
He expressed his willingness to carry everybody along, saying his office would maintain an open-door policy.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Lands and Survey, Chief Benjamin Ezeoma expressed his readiness to signpost the ministry to the limelight through excellent service delivery while soliciting the maximum cooperation of the workers.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Lands and Survey, Mrs Joy Chikaodi Mbam expressed joy over the timely resumption of office by the commissioner following his inauguration yesterday by the governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru.
She assured the new commissioner of the staff's maximum cooperation with him, noting that activities have been running smoothly since her deployment to the ministry by the state governor.
Highlights of the event were prayers and dedication of the ministry to God by a Catholic Priest, Reverend Father John Nwoba and light refreshments.
