Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Prophet Chris Adol-Awam and his over 2,000 loyalists yesterday joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the State.
Adol-Awam stated while addressing journalists immediately after he meets with the NNPPP members at his residence in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The NNPP governorship candidate left his party alongside his running mate and 2,000 other members who came from the 171 political wards, and 13 local government areas of the state.
He attributed his reason for collapsing the NNPP structure to the APC, in Ebonyi to many crises rocking the party in the state.
His words: "It is with a heavy heart that I announce the end of my journey with the NNPP. After careful consideration and introspection, I have resolved to return to the party that I consider my true political home, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Allow me to take this opportunity to share with you the reasons behind my decision.
"Before the merger that brought together the then ACN, ANPP, CPC, and a faction of APGA to form the APC, I played a pivotal role in bringing the ACN into Ebonyi State in 2010. I had the privilege of being a gubernatorial candidate for the party in the 2011 general elections. Moreover, I sponsored all 24 House of Assembly candidates of the party in that same election and actively contributed to the merger process. My commitment to the ideals of the APC has always been unwavering.
"With this in mind, I am proud to announce that I am returning to the APC, the party I call home. I am bringing with me the teeming grassroots structures that have been established across the 13 local government areas of the state. Together, we will align with a government of unity for the greater interest of the Ebonyi people.
"I want to assure the good people of Ebonyi State that my decision to join the APC is rooted in a deep sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to serve you better. I remain committed to championing the cause of progress, development, and good governance for the benefit of all. Together, let us strive to build a prosperous Ebonyi State that we can all be proud of," Adol Awam said.
