Former commissioner to Ebonyi state government on Public Utility, Benjamin Okah has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to industrialize Nigeria by granting states access to natural gas through a pipeline network
Okah, who is the chairman of the Ebonyi State Council of Elders, made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abakaliki, some hours before the inauguration of political appointees by Governor Francis Nwifuru.
He however called on President Tinubu to create a project that will pipe an industrial gas line to pass through all the states of the Federation.
He said: "The Federal government should create a pipeline network that will carry natural gas through all the states of the Federation. Gas produces many things and you can use it to run power plants. Industries will now power their companies and it is cheaper than NEPA, EEDC.
"And without this Gas pipeline program, it will be difficult for industries to thrive. The cheapest way to power industries is by piping power gas plants to run through all the states of the Federation.
Okah further noted that the creation of the industrial gas pipeline to pass through the 36 states of the Federation, will strengthen and put to function the 2023 electricity bill assented into law by President Tinubu's administration.
He said that the 2023 electricity law which authorizes states, companies and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity, will be more effective if the federal government would create a Gas pipeline to pass through the states to enable industries to tap into it and energize their companies.
"Natural gas is the catalyst for industrial development and the passing of these Gas pipelines through the states will certainly bring enormous electricity energy and other energies including that of fertilizer in every state. This is the only way that the country can be industrialized, Okah added.
