LR: Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and Commissioner Stephen Uchenna Igwe.
By Victor Nwegede, Abakaliki.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development in Ebonyi, Hon Stephen Uchenna Igwe on Thursday said that Governor Francis Nwifuru has demonstrated his administration's gameness to tackle the widespread developmental demands of the state.
Igwe who stated this on the assumption of his office in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, described Governor Nwifuru as a hope of advancement especially for the rural dwellers in the State.
He commended the governor for the creams of persons among his appointees and expressed confidence that the new administration in the state would make the Ebonyi people proud.
He assured that his office would not leave any stone unturned by ensuring the rural residents and their respective quarters feel greater impacts of the current administration in the state positively.
The commissioner explained that he chose to assume his office with prayers to seek God's guidance and enabling spirit to deliver the agenda of the present administration in the state.
His words: "We started with God, seeking his face to guide us and to give us the enabling spirit to deliver our agenda. This office mann 13 local government areas and 64 development centres of Ebonyi State. The 13 LG Chairmen and all the 64 development centres coordinators with all the staff are under my watch.
"I want to state categorically that His Excellency the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has done very well, in terms of appointment. If you watch the cream of people he appointed as his cabinet members, you will know that 50 to 60 per cent of them are youth. This means that the Governor wants to work, he is on the fast lane delivering the developmental agenda - his campaign promises.
"So, we will help him to deliver the agenda just as you may understand that we are in the ministry where everybody is connected. The reason is that this ministry is in charge of the grassroots, and when the grassroots is not in order the centre will not be in order.
"This means that the local government chairmen and the coordinators of the development centres should go back to their respective areas and begin to attend to the needs of the people.
"If the government brings money, it should be put right there in the local government, and that is what they were voted for. We want this government to outshine the previous ones. This is to tell you that the youth have entered into governance and if you watch around, everybody is celebrating the appointments given to the people in all parts of the state. This implies that the return of hope has landed in Ebonyi State and that hope is Rt Hon Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Governor of Ebonyi State."
