A youths group, Nigeria Youth Organisation, has lauded the appointment of a former governor of Benue State, George Akume and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, respectively.
Describing the appointments as commendable, the youths group said this was an opportunity for the new government functionaries to rejig the system and foster national unity amongst Nigerians.
The group, in a statement, on Sunday, issued by its National Vice-President (South-East Zone), Comrade Okorie Okorie, equally hailed the emergence of Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum.
The statement read, "May I, on behalf of myself, the Executive Council and teeming members of Nigeria Youth Organization (NYO) (South-East Zone) congratulate His Excellency Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker Federal House of Representatives on his meritorious appointment as Chief of Staff to President Bola Amed Tinubu.
"We also Congratulate His Excellency, Senator George Akume, former Governor of Benue State on his appointment as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
"We wish to emphasise the choice of President Bola Amed Tinubu in appointing Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff and His Excellency Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation is a well-thought-out one.
"Similarly, we congratulate His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State on his emergence as the Chairman of Progressive Governors' Forum, even as we call on him to use this unparalleled ample privilege to yet leave another memorable legacy in the sands of time.
"Conclusively, we do seize this opportunity to call on the newly appointed Chief of Staff to the President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation to be upright in the discharge of their duties."
