...the nation is bleeding profusely, but some people are still injuring her the more, politically, socially and economically here and there, Lawrence Egede pens down the media overview about the state of things in Nigeria.
We have come to a climax of the insults on our nationhood by criminals and greedy service providers, both of whom don't care about how their activities affect the lives of the masses.
The impunity is unbecoming of them with all the arbitrary ways of behaviour towards the public who they exploit carelessly.
The new generation of our political leaders should take note of this presentation.
They should come to their best senses this time, come out of their comfort zones, look at the nation very well and not just mind their gains.
We still have complaints in some parts of Nigeria where hostilities are going on now.
They should find solutions to the existing problems killing the peace, love, unity, togetherness and patriotism that should be in tune with building the nation.
It will be good for Nigeria if the new generation of leaders will buckle up, put a lasting end to security challenges first before any other thing, and set people free from the present terrible yoke of bloodletting bondage.
We know that the Nigerian armed forces have tried their best, to curtail the excesses of the security challenges but they need to be highly encouraged.
We have been praying for the survival of Nigerians because of what had befallen the nation so that she grows in the peace of God, security and absolute harmony. The answers have not come because of our ignorance and lack of collective bargaining.
The problem is that while we pray for the nation, the people who are supposed to join in the intercession kept on destroying Nigeria not being presentable to God. They pretend to be good.
Those who haven't been able to experience the pains that many other people have been passing through, may not know how Nigeria came to this point of serious worry and anxiety.
Let me give the highlights hereunder of all the calamities I know, which had hit Nigeria too hard over and over again in the years past, after the mufti reign of Gen. Obasanjo's democratic regime. It has not been easy.
Immediately after Obasanjo's democratic regime, wolves in sheep's clothing moved into politics to disarm the nation.
Then from the Yar Adua regime down to Goodluck Jonathan, the wolves moved into Nigeria. They began to slaughter people randomly in the name of grabbing power, seizing the position of authority and playing dirty politics with the lives of people in Nigeria.
Till today Nigerians are not free as such. Even where the dangers have not yet struck there are traces of sorrow.
Things were never good for Nigeria till today, as every evil surfaced to destroy the nation hands down. Why should we rejoice? Why can't we rethink?
People who don't see how the country looks like today will not know that Nigeria is exhausted badly. People should open their eyes and see that blood is now blinding Nigeria dark and black, with no light, no life, and no gain but only exists in the blues over time.
I mean that the nation is really bleeding profusely, but some people are still injuring her the nore, politically, socially and economically here and there.
The worst of all is the political desperation to be in power and authority, to answer big names with chains of titles tied to some generations of Bosses in the country. What darkness and blindness ravaging people who should shine their eyes!
Having spent very many hectic years mixing up with the public, there were things I discovered.
Number one is that our so-called Western education only ended up in the politics of how to get money, how to become rich and be lords over people.
Not that there are no seasoned people in all disciplines of life, but they are handicapped now to act, for lack of good backing from the government quarters.
Our Western education seems to have driven us into believing that we know everything, but under our watch, we are being ruled and controlled by those who we assume know nothing, whereas they know all our weak points.
Our main weak point is money, not integrity. Other weak points are many, boiling down to class distinction in disregard for other people we think are nobody, yet they are important to us when we need them unavoidably.
Our Western education has also brainwashed us to dwell only on feeding fat the Midwest region called the stomach, yet we have never ceased to be like Oliver Twist who always needed more.
Our Western education has been on our neck to disregard the masses, who we think have nothing to offer but they offer so much in many ways to us.
Our Western education has made us proud for no just cause, corrupting the local education that is down to earth with home discipline, decorum, respect, honour, dignity, integrity, honesty, sincerity and humility.
Our Western education has made it possible for people in power and authority to believe that nobody is worth anything more than a tool for political end use whenever it is necessary.
That's why everyone is down to ridicule with a cap in hand for the crumbs falling from the master's dining table. That's why those who can't beat them join them under rain or shine, as birds of the same feather or as accredited union members.
They want to build mansions for themselves, or for those who can afford to pay for luxury and comfort in town or live in the suburbs to prove big before the poor masses and provoke them into untidy psychology.
It is good to build good houses but how many Nigerians will be given such opportunities, when poverty drives them into sheer envy, compels them to go into crimes, pushes them into the thick darkness, blackness, blindness and loss of the rules of honesty, transparency, truth and light?
Nobody can trust anybody anymore except people who are formed as team members, sworn to an oath of allegiance as shareholders of good things, entering the group stockpiles of those named as stakeholders.
It is good to get good things but the question is, what are the means through which we have got the good things that will honour God and mankind, where accountability can thrive without blame, spot or wrinkle
Can't we see that all is not well with Nigeria? Why is it that we now have Anti Corrupthis and Agencies because all is not well with the country?
Why is it that in Nigeria there are kidnappers, bandits, liars, thieves, fraudsters, robbers, terrorists, ritualists, assassins, cultists, and political desperados because of greed and avarice rampaging the nation front and back, up and down, hook and crook and ties roundabout?
With all the above challenges, why do we celebrate anything instead of sanitizing ourselves of all the ills, in a collective fight against the odds facing us?
We now have the worst of all manners of security challenges in Nigeria, yet we have the guts to celebrate the success achieved under threats of lives here and there. Everywhere is very risky for people to go, stay, live and do business freely nowadays.
What are we celebrating under siege of evils and wickedness, in a country bereaved of all her integrity, sanctity and safety?
Just watch what is happening at the locality in political feasts during the harvest of joy for victory at the polls, how some people scamper with envy to be at the forefront for quick recognition.
Is that not madness in the dark of nightfall at daylight, when we are supposed to be at our wits and think about how to develop our potential for the good of our various places of origin?
It is good to celebrate but not at the expense of impressing anybody first, thinking of having arrived at the tarmac on an early journey that is yet to begin.
There is time for everything and not everything for a time at once before time, in case we go into the mistake of not taking time to do certain things at the time appointed, because of being in haste to finish on time not due, to dismiss people from seizing our opportunity time.
We know about fat incomes which could be our confidence that we can pay our debts if we owe anybody anything, but why not wait till we owe nothing to anybody who comes our way joyfully with time in times of need? We have responsibilities as debts to our subjects.
We are bound to come home a little bit, in order not to cover up the walking corpses of our brothers and sisters, who might need us at the time that we can offer them shelter to be alive. Nigerians can be better in brotherhood, togetherness, love and unity to forge ahead well.
In fact, with the way things are going these days seeing we are yet to come to national realities, rather than personal gains with the pretext to represent people, who have always been cheated I weep for my country Nigeria.
To God is the glory forever.
