Nigeria's prominent Nollywood actor and Labour Party Chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo have asked the governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah to resign to avoid suffering disgrace in the office.
Okonkwo's call came up following the allegations that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) released certificate being paraded by the governor is unreal.
Recall that the NYSC had on 1 February written a letter signed by Ibrahim Muhammed saying that the corps did not issue the certificate in the governor’s possession.
Mbah also thereafter sued the NYSC and Muhammad for publishing a disclaimer, denying the issuance of the discharge certificate issued to him on 6 January 2003.
Sharing his thoughts on the situation, Okonkwo opined that in a sane country, Mbah would have resigned honourably.
Speaking via Twitter, the Labour Party stalwart argued that the governor's ungentlemanly behaviour has portrayed the people of Enugu in a bad light.
He pleaded with him to resign before he is disgraced out of office.
He wrote, “In a saner clime, now that NYSC has testified that Peter Mbah’s NYSC Certificate is fake, he would resign honourably and not wait to be disgraced.
“I am pained that this ungentlemanly behaviour of Peter Mbah will continue to paint the citizens of Enugu State in a bad light.
“I respectfully plead with Peter Mbah to immediately resign and save our people from this collective shame.”
