Over 2,000 Ebonyi citizens have benefited from the digital empowerment program of a non-governmental organization, NGO known as WISTOP Mega Foundation now going on in the State.
The beneficiaries of digital empowerment which focuses on improving people's lives with new technologies were majorly the youths and Churches across the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Comrade Enweogu Wisdom Chukwuemeka, while interacting with journalists noted that the foundation ensures the alleviation of the people from poverty by equipping and empowering them with digital knowledge and devices to become self-reliance.
He stated that the NGO is basically into human capital development, capacity building, mentorship, and skill acquisition, among others which are designed to make them self-independent, informed and financially free.
Comrade Wisdom further explained that the mission of the organization is to use the strength of modern knowledge together with digital assets and technology to ensure the total care of the underprivileged and uninformed individuals.
While emphasizing why many youths are not achieving their expectations in life, he noted that it is because they lack specific knowledge on how to surmount contemporary challenges with modern knowledge.
According to him, the vision is to reach out to the underprivileged and uninformed; training and making them informed, independent and financially free, thereby fulfilling their purposes on earth.
"It is an NGO that is basically into Human Capital Development and also into Capacity building and enhancement. We have been into this since 2019. We have trained Over two thousand youths in Ebonyi state. We have an office where we train twice every week for mentorship classes. We also have an outdoor program where we go to villages, communities, and organizations, to train them on skill acquisition based on what the Community, and organization, groups demanded. We have toured over 16 states in Nigeria for training, and also train online once every week to enable everyone across the state to partake in her mentorship.
"The vision of WISTOP Foundation is to reach out to the less privileged and uninformed; training and making them be informed, self-dependant and financially free, thereby fulfilling their purposes on earth.
"Our mission is using the strength of modern knowledge and information, together with digital assets and technologies to ensure the total care of the less privileged and uninformed.
So, we believe that a good guide gives birth to good results, you can do more if you know more.
"Our foundation is out to equip people with modern knowledge because it is not the way things were being done a few years ago that is being done now. Strategies have to be changed to adopt the contemporary one to solve the problem.
"We also make sure we equip people that are under our mentorship on the modern skills needed now because it is no more the skills that were needed twenty years ago to succeed that are needed now. So, we open the eyes of our people to the modern skills that can make them self-reliant and self-employed. We prepare them, we package them and
we position them for opportunities," he said.
He also noted that the organization has done a lot on widow care in various communities where 350 widows were empowered while about 1,760 others have been profiled from 5 LGAs for another empowerment.
"We are also into windows. We have been able to empower over 350 widows between 2019 and 2020 while about 1,760 other widows have been profiled from 5 local Governments in Ebonyi State for our next move as soon as we raise funds and support.
"Our windows are divided into 14 units to enable us to have easy access to reach them. We have been able to empower their leaders with 28 phones on November 2021 so that we can be able to communicate with them easily; we do meet with them once every month. We have assisted them with wrappers, food items, among others.
"On digital Empowerment, we have empowered 10 churches, Catholic, Assemblies of God, Watchman, etc. Some pastors were also empowered and it comes every 11th of November. We believe that if we catch the leaders and empower them, the followers will be easier to be captured and empowered. Not only that, we have given them access to digital opportunities."
