The Senior Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Environment, Mr Okechukwu Nwokoro has declared that despite the present challenges facing Nigerians due to the fuel subsidy removal, the new policy would boost the nation's economy to a large extent in no distant future.
Nwokoro stated this yesterday while interacting with journalists in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
He noted that the new administration both in his state and at the national level has exemplified its capacity, signifying its readiness to change the ugly narratives heralded in the country, especially the looming unemployment and poverty scores.
According to him, the people who are currently in control of power in Nigeria know their jobs very well, arguing that President Bola Tinubu-led government removed fuel subsidies to create jobs and build more refineries and other industries in the country.
He said, "The purpose of Mr.r President to remove fuel subsidies is to create jobs and build some refineries and other industries. From the National level, the fuel subsidy removal will equally midwife and impregnate the state.
"At the state level, our governor is going to create jobs and build industries, and I have seen that even the Ministry of Environment, has procured a recycling machine. The machine will be used to recycle waste. And through that area, the Ministry of Environment will start generating money.
"By the time, we start fumigating eateries, hotels, parks and all other places, the revenues that will be generated from these must go to a single treasure account. For mineral, our governor said he will build a sorting machine as part of improving our economy through the mining enterprises in the state."
Nwokoro further chronicled the monumental achievements of Governor Francis Nwifuru within 100 days in office, including the recruitment of 195 medical workers, approval for the construction of roads across all the communities in the State, and ongoing recruitment of over 1,454 Ebonyians into the State civil service.
Other achievements by Governor Nwifuru within the short time in office, according to him, were approval for disbursement of over two million Naira each to Ebonyians who are into street hawking and menial jobs across the Country, appointment of youths into his cabinet and many others.
He described the governor's grand successes as next to none since the creation of Ebonyi State.
