Herbalists under the umbrella of the National Union of Medical Herbal Practitioners, NUMHP, on Saturday inaugurated their Executive members in the state.
The inauguration which took place at Ndiebor Oshioku in Amachi Community in Abakaliki local government area of Ebonyi State, the country home of the State Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Dr Mohammed John Nwalem, yesterday was honoured massively by the herbalists in the state including the Muslim community.
Performing the inauguration, the State Chairman, Chief Dr Maduabuchi Ojiugwo Nwogbaga said the event became necessary because the union's constitution entrusts him to do so, after his induction by the national leadership at Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Chief Nwogbaga charged the officials and members of the union, to be active in support of government policies in boosting the well-being of people in their undertakings to discern their medical herbal profession in the state and beyond.
He recalled that the leadership crisis which had crushed the National Association of Nigerian Medicine Practitioners, NANTMP, was because the structure gained ground through a faulty foundation.
He, however, assured the members of the union to be carrying them along while expressing the notion that his leadership would bring traditional medicine reform to Ebonyi State.
Nwogbaga commended the National leadership of the union for founding him worthy to be the State Chairman and equally assured the members of utilising his knowledge in the medical herbal world to improve the profession in the state.
The State Secretary of the Union, Alhaji Dr Mohammed John Nwalem appreciated his members for all their contributions to the success of the organisation believing that the union cannot go backwards further no matter the handiwork of the enemies.
Other speakers at the event included the State Woman leader, Dr Mrs Obiageli Oyibe, and the Muslim community led by Alhaji Musa Galadima, commended the inaugural ceremony, noting that the new executive members were comprised of men and women of calibre in the medical herbal world in the state.
They equally expressed their readiness to continue operating according to their constitution and strictly follow the rule of law in the state.
