In a world where modern medicine often takes centre stage, the contributions of herbalists in the health sector are often overlooked or misunderstood. Herbalists, with their deep knowledge of medicinal plants and natural remedies, play a vital role in promoting holistic healing and are integral to nation-building efforts. Understanding the true makings of herbalists unveils their potential to revolutionize healthcare systems and contribute to the overall development of a nation.
Herbalists possess a profound understanding of the medicinal properties and applications of various plants. They harness the power of nature to provide effective, natural remedies for a wide range of health issues. From chronic ailments to minor complaints, herbalists offer holistic solutions that address the root causes of illness while promoting overall wellness. By embracing natural alternatives, herbalists empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being.
One of the key contributions of herbalists lies in their ability to promote self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on expensive pharmaceuticals. By utilizing locally available medicinal plants, herbalists provide affordable and accessible healthcare options to a broader population. This not only eases the burden on strained healthcare systems but also ensures that marginalized communities have access to effective treatments. In this way, herbalists contribute to reducing health disparities and promoting social equity.
Herbalists often collaborate with local farmers and communities to cultivate medicinal plants sustainably. This creates opportunities for economic growth and development. By supporting local agriculture, herbalists contribute to the nation's economy while preserving traditional farming practices. Furthermore, the herbal medicine industry itself can be a significant source of employment and revenue generation. Investing in research, development, and manufacturing of herbal products can create a thriving market and foster innovation.
While some sceptics question the scientific credibility of herbal medicine, it's important to recognize the rich traditional knowledge passed down through generations. Traditional herbal remedies have a long history of successful use and healing. Moreover, modern research is increasingly exploring the efficacy of herbal remedies, identifying active components, and validating their therapeutic effects. Integrative medicine, which combines traditional and evidence-based approaches, is gaining recognition worldwide. By bridging the gap between traditional wisdom and modern science, herbalists contribute to a more comprehensive and inclusive healthcare system.
To fully harness the true makings of herbalists, it is essential to recognize their expertise, promote research, and integrate their knowledge into mainstream medicine. Governments, healthcare institutions, and the public should embrace the healing power of nature and leverage it for the betterment of individuals and society as a whole. By doing so, we can create a healthcare system that is both sustainable and patient-centered, while simultaneously fostering economic growth and social progress.
Herbalists, with their profound understanding of medicinal plants and their therapeutic properties, bring a unique perspective to the health sector and nation-building efforts. Their contributions extend beyond individual health, encompassing self-sufficiency, sustainability, and economic development. By integrating traditional wisdom with scientific advancements, herbalists have the potential to revolutionize healthcare systems and create a healthier, more prosperous future. It is time to recognize and appreciate the true makings of herbalists and embrace their invaluable role in shaping the well-being of individuals and nations like the personality of Ahlaji Dr Mohammed John Nwalem, an international Crisis Quencher and Peace Ambassador from Ndiebor Oshioku, Amachi community in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Nigeria in Africa Continent.
Alhaji Dr Nwalem who inherited his herbal healing blessing from his maternal ancestry began to practice as a herbalist at the age of four years after a severe fever which nearly took away his life before true revelations were given to him by the then well-known soothsayers and seers of God. He started practising as an herbalist with his mother, Chief Dr Ophoke Nwalem, who has an identical natural gift for treating patients with herbs and roots.
The natural healing gift connected Dr. Nwalem with highly seasoned personalities who further linked him to advanced traditional medicine specialists who fled him to Egypt, an Arabic country. Dr. Nwalem's journey to Arabic countries earned him greater love from high-ranked personalities including the people from India who patronized him in a large measure.
But as his fate had it, Dr Nwalem was naturally blessed to come back home before he could make greater exploits in his herbal trade. He was indifferent to the revelation to the extent he fell a heavy sickness, leading to his coming back to Nigeria in 1992 and staying with a prominent Cameroon man, Alhaji Tanko Baruwa in Nasarawa State for 5 years, but his fate still insisted that he must come back to his homeland to practice.
Dr Nwalem then returned to Awkwa and opened his herbal teaustry yet to no avail leading to him moving to Asaba, Delta State Capital before he finally obeyed the first revelation that he must come to his rightful homeland, Ala-Izhi to begin to heal patients.
His arrival at his Ndiebor Oshioku country home; Amachi community in Abakaliki local government area of Ebonyi State in 1994 was widely celebrated by his maternal and paternal families alongside his friends and well-wishers, who decorated him with a chieftaincy title - Oka-obvuruzor one of Amachi community and offered their blessings to do more exploits in his herbal healing industry.
His accomplishments in the herbal therapy job have amassed him, thousands of clients and he is currently having branch offices in over 10 states in Nigeria including Ebonyi, Anambra, Abia, Delta, Nassarawa, Kaduna, Niger, Kogi, Taraba, Kebbi, among others.
Though he specializes in quenching crises, and treating psychiatric patients, swelling bodies, spiritual attacks, and stomach problems including poisons, ulcers, infertility and impotency, among other chronic diseases, Dr. Nwalem has attracted Egyptian natural ophthalmologists who came to Ebonyi State to cure different eye problems free of charge. It is indeed on record that no patient had ever visited Dr Nwalem's herbal clinic centres for treatment and went back home without healing. As a crisis quencher and peace builder, Alhaji Dr Nwalem was the front liner among those who quenched the communal war between Gboko, Tiv and Juku in Benue State during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's regime.
Alhaji Nwalem was also among those who quenched the Aguleri and Umuleri crisis which consumed thousands of lives especially the innocent citizens in Anambra State under former President Obasanjo's administration. The Ebonyi-born herbalist's active contributions to installing permanent peace in those crisis areas had distinguished him both at home and abroad. His excellent contributions to developing traditional medicines, especially in healing patients and building peace across the country equally attracted him in the recent time the position of the State Secretary of the National Union of Medical Herbal Practitioners, while Chief Dr. Maduabuchi Ojiugwo Nwogbaga serves as the State Chairman of the union. Dr Nwalem as a professional herbal healer is an outstanding character in Virtual Health Safety and Environmental Services, Nutritional Awareness, Business Development, Financial Planning, Aerobic Sessions, Travel and Tourism and Human Resources. He is a licenced and independent partner with NEOLife International and team High Pillars International, whose choice in herbal trade is to make the world a healthier and happier spot. Thus, all roads will be leading to Dr Nwalem's Ndiebor Oshioku Amachi country home on Saturday 7th October 2023, a special day slated to honour Alhaji Nwalem by the members of the National Union of Medical Herbal Practitioners in Ebonyi State, the Salt of the Nation.
The event which is meant to celebrate Dr. Nwalem's accomplishments in the herbal world right from his 4 years when he began the herbal healing job to his current age of 67 years old; has showcased the true position of the herbal doctors in quenching crises and nurturing peace within human society. Their expertise in herbal medicine, holistic approach to wellness, empowerment of individuals and communities, preservation of traditional knowledge, and environmental stewardship collectively contribute to building healthier and more harmonious societies. Meanwhile, Dr. Nwalem's philosophy remains that as the human race navigates through the challenges of the modern world, embracing the wisdom of herbal doctors can lead every society towards a future where crisis management is sustainable, well-being is prioritized, and peace prevails.
