The members of the National Union of Medical Herbal Practitioners, NUMHP have appointed Chief Dr Nwibo Mkpuma as their new patron in the Izzi local government area of the state.
Speaking during the event held at the Agbuenyim Iboko in the Izzi local government area, the State Chairman of the NUMHP, Chief Dr Maduabuchi Ojiugwo Nwogbaga described Dr Nwibo Mkpuma as a man whose sense of maturity and humanitarian dispositions have fetched him a feather of honour and respect to serve as the Patron of the union in the council area.
Dr Ojiugwo noted that the advent of the union uniting medical herbalists under his watch in the state has made him and his members choose men and women of virtue to set a standard in the herbal world.
He charged the new Izzi local government patron of the union to be an active player in advancing the medical herbal profession and supportive of the government's developmental policies in the state.
He also advised all the members of the union to desist from any act that would tag them in a negative light while practising in any part of the state.
On their part, the Union's Vice Chairman, Dr Okechukwu Ogbonna and the Secretary, Dr John Nwalem congratulated the newly appointed Izzi Local Government Patron and urged him to strengthen such dispositions that steered to his nomination.
In his acceptance speech, the new Patron, Dr Mkpuma Nwibo expressed joy over his appointment and vowed to utilize his office to strengthen the medical herbal profession, noting that peace and progressive plan among the union's members would continue to be his pursuit.
He also lauded the government of Ebonyi State led by Governor Francis Nwifuru for having given the medical herbalists the freedom and accommodation to operate and further develop their profession in the state.
