Following the ongoing installation of fibre optics in some strategic places in Ebonyi State, the Commissioner for Information and Communication Technologies, Hon. Uzor Tochukwu said that one of the objectives of installing ICT facilities is to ensure security surveillance and provide free internet services to most public institutions across the state.
The commissioner who disclosed this in Abakaliki recently, stated that having an efficient and effective ICT surveillance system in the state is one of the dreams of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru to have a smart city where lives and properties are well secured which is in line with the People's Charter of Needs agenda of this administration.
He further stated that the ICT facilities can capture anybody who engages in crime in any part of the state, adding that it will also provide free internet services to many public institutions in Ebonyi state.
The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in providing sophisticated ICT facilities for the safety of lives and properties as well as free internet services in line with global best practices.
`When you check item 12 of the People's Charter of Needs, you will see ICT and smart city. If you glance through it, you will see the dreams of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru on ICT.
Currently, we are installing fibre optics. The main target is to provide free internet services to all the public institutions in the state. We are starting from Ebonyi sStateUniversity, before every other institution. The fibre optics can be used to carry out security surveillance across the state to protect lives and properties which is one of the key factors and cardinal objectives of this government in line with line with's Charter of Needs.
` The ICT surveillance system will capture anybody that engages in crime in any part of the state. The governor has many good programmes and Policies, and he is a lover of ICT', he explained.
