The wooden bridge along Idenyi Nwonu Road at Egwudinagu Ishieke in Ebonyi local government area of Ebonyi State has reportedly collapsed.
Landslide sources announced that the popular Ogbogbo Egwudinagu bridge by the Odomoke - Ugbodo Ishieke axis of the Ebonyi Council Area just broke down following a heavy truck attempting to drive across it on Friday afternoon - 16th February 2024.
Recall that Ugbodo Ishieke is the headquarters of the Ebonyi local government area of Ebonyi State.
But the unfortunate development had degenerated into a serious concern for those plying the route for their businesses, especially the farmers and traders.
Netziens especially the residents of the area and those who ply the route daily have continued sharing the depressing incident on different social media platforms since Friday afternoon.
When sighted the snapshots of the collapsed bridge on social media, according to our sources, the Deputy Chief Whip in the 10th Senate of Nigeria, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, directed his Senior Special Assistant on Works to go and measure the bridge immediately for prompt intervention.
"SSA works Arch Nwachukw should go and measure the bridge immediately while l work with council chairman to see to it," Senator Nwebonyi said.
NATIONAL PANEL learnt that Senator Nwebonyi hails from Ebonyi Council Area.
The Federal Lawmaker is currently representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
His proactive approach to addressing the plights of his constituents has continued amassing high commendation, especially on the attending issue of the collapsed Ogbogbo Egwudinagu Bridge, among others.
