The Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Saturday's bye-election in Ebonyi South District, Barrister Silas Onu has expressed optimism about coming out victorious in the Saturday's bye-election.
Onu who dismissed the rumour-making round in some quarters in Ebonyi that he has dropped from the Senatorial contest, said he is still fully in the race to win the election to the chagrin of his rivals come February 3rd.
He made this known in a press release, Friday morning and maintained that the people's votes must be counted this time in the Ebonyi South Senatorial election.
It could be recalled that the Ebonyi South Senatorial Seat was declared vacant by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio following the resignation of the then incumbent, Senator David Umahi after his appointment and inauguration as the Federal Minister of Works by President Bola Tinubu.
Different parties including PDP fielded their candidates after their primaries but Onu emerged as the PDP candidate for the Senatorial by-election.
Barr Onu said it surprised him that his opponents had become afraid of his overwhelming supporters across the five local government areas in the zone.
According to him, "My rivals had begun spreading falsehoods about dropping the mandate given to me by the PDP and I can never try it. I'm still in the race to win. "
He reiterated that nothing would change his ambition to emerge victorious in the Senatorial race.
"If the APC and cohorts think much they can do, they resorted to spreading falsehoods to truncate my ambition. But their evil plan to seal my mandate has been disappointing because I'm still a race and I'm strongly confident that the victory is for me and the PDP come Saturday."
"It's clear that my opponents are afraid of the overwhelming supporters I have got since I declared interest in the Senatorial run. I will win and win very well," he added.
Onu urged his supporters not to allow the enemies of good leadership and representation to change their minds but to come out massively on Saturday to vote for the PDP.
