The Founder of the Obinna Uko Foundation which actively championed the 2023 Obidient Movement in the South East region of Nigeria, particularly in Ebonyi State has dumped the Labour Party, LP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Abakaliki during the weekend, Uko who was the LP Stalwart in Ebonyi described his defection to the ruling APC in his state as a significant moment in his political journey.
Uko, the socio-political activist noted that his decision to dump LP for APC has not been made lightly.
According to Uko, after his careful consideration and reflection on the current state of politics in the country, he firmly acknowledged that it is time to prioritize governance over politics.
He said: "I have long held the belief that true leadership is about service to the people and delivering tangible development to our communities.
"In that vein, I have been privileged to witness firsthand the exceptional leadership qualities embodied by our dear Governor, the Right Honourable Ogbonna Nwifuru.
"His dedication to the welfare of our people and his commitment to good governance have inspired me to align myself with his vision for a better future for our state.
"It is worth noting that my decision to defect is not based on personal gain or political expediency. Rather, it is rooted in a desire to work alongside a leader who prioritizes the well-being of our people above all else.
"As I have stated before, I have always known who I want to support in presidential elections, and now, in the realm of governorship, I am proud to stand by Governor Nwifuru and contribute to the progress and prosperity of our state.
"I am confident that my decision to join the APC will enable me to better serve the interests of my constituents and contribute meaningfully to the development of our state.
"I look forward to working with like-minded individuals who share my passion for effective governance and positive change."
NATIONAL PANEL learnt that Uko and thousands of his loyalists were officially received by the State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha at the Party Secretariat, Abakaliki.
