*Says EBSU is one of the best state-owned universities in Nigeria

Following the success recorded in the just concluded Maiden Multidisciplinary Conference organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ebonyi State University, the Vice Chancellor, Prof.Chigozie Nkwo Ogbu, has applauded the outstanding performance of the keynote speakers, and every other participant, saying that the outcome of the conference can generate solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria as a country.
He further stated that Ebonyi State University is one of the best state-owned universities in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor made this known while presenting his goodwill message during the Maiden Multidisciplinary Conference held on 4th to 6th June 2024, at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities auditorium of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
Speaking on the theme: Issues in Nigeria's National Development in the 21st Century: Looking Ahead, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu who used the opportunity to welcome and appreciate the participants for their unique contributions during the conference, said that he is confident that the outcome of the conference can proffer solutions to the challenges facing Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eugene Nweke said: `This conference is very apt, and the theme is very important to national development. As you know, one of the greatest challenges we have today, in Nigeria, is how to develop.
And we have a series of problems constituting obstacles to our development. And when we look at the themes, and papers listed for presentation today, I am convinced that solutions to the problem of Nigeria can be generated from this conference." he said.
He further noted that Ebonyi State University is one of the best universities in Nigeria and ranked 6th among the state-owned universities in Nigeria. He also used the medium to commend the commitment and dedication of the FSS Dean and members of the local organizing committee for making the conference unique.
In her welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof.Ngozi Emeka Nwobia welcomed all the erudite Professors and colleagues who came from all walks of life to participate in the maiden Multidisciplinary conference organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, explaining that the idea to host the conference was conceived in the year,2022, adding that the idea was nurtured for two good years before its manifestation.
''Today, it is a dream come true. We thank you most sincerely for not just finding time, but also gathering the resources to participate in the conference notwithstanding the biting economic hardship.
"We are thrilled to bring viable scholars and experts within and around the world. And across various disciplines to share ideas, collaborate and learn from one another. In the next two days, we shall be exploring Issues in Nigerian Development in the 21st Century: looking ahead.
"In this, there shall be robust academic engagements, discussions, and presentations that will showcase the latest trajectories in humanities and social sciences research and innovations and best practices. We are going to explore different approaches and perspectives that can converge to address complex challenges and as well create new opportunities."
Earlier in his goodwill message, the governor of Ebonyi State, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, lauded the faculty for coming up with such a wonderful initiative, more especially at this critical moment when Nigeria is facing economic hardship, saying that the Ebonyi state Government is already doing a lot about the welfare of staff and students of Ebonyi State University, adding that a lot has been done at the University's infrastructure aimed at making the University conducive for learning.
He urged the Institution to place more emphasis on entrepreneurial studies to enable students to be self-employed after graduation.
Other participants like Dr.Edith Anyanwu and Dr.Goodluck Nwode all expressed joy and satisfaction over the conference, stating that it was a dream come true, and also appreciated the Dean of the faculty for the wonderful initiative.
The conference featured paper presentations by keynote speakers, panel sections, questions and answers, and entertainment, among others.
