The people of Nkomoro Community in Ezza North local government area of Ebonyi State at the weekend lamented that unscrupulous elements have violated the court order restraining any conduct of election and coronation of their new traditional ruler which had degenerated crisis in the vicinity.
This was contained in a press release endorsed by the Councilor representing Nkomoro Ward - Samuel Noko, the traditional prime minister of the community - Onowu Livinus Eze, acting Town Union President - Obiora Ezaka,
Chief Prophet Cletus Igwe -Ezeogo Contestant, (Oriezor clan) and Chief Joseph Oganyi - Ezeogo Contestant (Orieuzor clan).
One of the community stakeholders, Mr Peter Nwafor who read the release, said, the desecration, violation and total disregard of order of the Court of Competent Jurisdiction by unscrupulous elements were led by Chief Jacob Nwakpa, allegedly supervised by the government functionaries.
He cited that the High Court of Ebonyi State in Suit: No. HNK/18/2024 BETWEEN MR. OKWUDIRI AGBOM & ANOR VS CHIEF JACOB NWAKPA & 6 ORS made an order on 10/06/2024 restraining all the Respondents from carrying out coronation the of the 1st Defendant as the traditional ruler of Nkomoro Community said was dully servilely all the Defendants.
"That we got the wind of purported coronation on the 16/06/2024 of the 1st Respondent in total violation of the order we quickly wrote to the commissioner of Police Ebonyi and also went to go meet with him to have a personal discussion with her and she informed us that she is not aware of any coronation of any sort and that nobody informed of any coronation Nkomoro Community.
"That on 16/6/2we got information that Chief Jacob Nwakpa and his brothers had mobilized some thugs to Nkomoro Community in a bid to coronate himself as the traditional ruler of Nkomoro Community which made some people come to attempt them and Chief Jacob Nwakpa got angry and unleased his thugs on the innocent people of Nkomoro Community.
"The duty of full disclosure and civic responsibility that we owe the general public and, in particular, the peace love peace-loving Ebonyi State compels us to address you on this sad day in Nkomoro Community.
He said, the community people vehemently condemned the discretion of their land today by Jacob Nwakpa, Ifeanyi Nwakpa, Amechi Nwakpa, Emeka Nwakpa and Mr. Innocent Chikodili Nomeh who invaded the community today in an unsuccessful attempt to coronate/impose their stooge as the traditional ruler of Nkomoro.
He added: "It is on record that the peace love peace-loving Nkomoro had before now through multiple channels of communication alerted the public and expressed their rejection of the clandestine moves and attempts to impose a traditionatraditionut the evil perpetrators refused to relent.
"Upon the court's intervention, an order of interim injunction was issued to restrain all parties and maintain the status quo, pending the determination of all issues before the court."
The community people, in his words, urged the governor, Francis Nwifuru, and all security agencies to intervene over the fallout of the crisis in their area.
They promised to remain calm and law-abiding and maintained to resist any attempt at breaking down of law and order in the community under any guise.
"We repose our trust in the gods of our land while seeking redress in the law Court," he concluded
