The South East Zonal Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration to embark on massive employment of the youths to reduce poverty and security challenges in the country.
Nwali, who stated this yesterday while interacting with newsmen at Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, further advised the Nigerian government to seriously consider the provision of employment opportunities for the youths through the industrialization of the country, and the nation would become the most secure place in the world.
He recommended that the Tinubu-led administration should maintain the pace of ongoing infrastructural development, as, in his words, no country in the world had ever grown without fixing the infrastructure.
"But it will not be fair if we don't highlight the lapses in the system where we failed to pay attention on time as Nigeria clocks its 64th Independence Anniversary on 1st October 2024, and that is number one, employment opportunities.
"What Nigeria needs to tackle now after infrastructure is to create the enabling environment for employment. Annually America begins to announce their employment opportunities for each year. We have none that at all in Nigeria.
"Instead of sharing palliatives, we should construct companies in all the regions of the country. We should create serious mechanized farming in all the regions. We should go on industrialization and Public Private Partnership PPP.
"I am sure that the population of the country is over 300, 000,000 people, and our youths are above 100,000,000 and over 60,000,000 are unemployed," Nwali explained.
Nwali, who was the immediate past CAN Chairman in Ebonyi State, expressed optimism that if the government in power provided employment opportunities for the youths, insecurity would be drastically ended in the country.
