A new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) in Ebonyi, Francis Nnamdi has vowed to fight crime and criminality in the state.
Nnadi who described his posting to the state as a new dawn, urged the people to support the command to protect lives and properties.
He stated this at the command headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital, while taking over from the former Commandant of the command, Dr. Willie Etim, who was deployed to another state and noted that he was in the state to assist the government in achieving reasonable peace and secure lives.
"My predecessor has passed through Ebonyi with some legacies, I will also pass through Ebonyi. I am one person that doesn't believe that there is anything impossible.
"In the security architecture of this country, we have come of age. I will stop at nothing to make sure that Ebonyi is safe. All hands must be on deck to make things happen.
"I am here to hit the ground running to continue from where my predecessor stopped. We have a mandate, first of all, for the protection of lives and property; it is basic.
"Federal government gave us the power and the sole authority to cover the critical infrastructure of the federal, state,s and local governments. I am here to make sure that these are achieved. We are also here to help the state government achieve reasonable peace and secure lives.
"NSCD, C as we know, is civil in most of their activities. We assure Ebonyi people that my coming on board is going to be a break of a new dawn and honestly, I am available round the clock to attend to the security needs of the state", Nnadi stated
While handing over, Etim described the new Commandant, Nnadi as an experienced officer and expressed confidence that he would perform creditably well in the state.
