The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Ebonyi State Council, Comrade Samson Nwafor, has tasked staff and management of Glorious 88.3FM to ensure strict adherence to the NUJ code of ethics in the discharge of their professional duties.
Nwafo made the call on Wednesday during the official commissioning of a private radio station, Glorious 88.3 FM, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital.
The NUJ Chairman commended the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru for creating an enabling environment for private investors to thrive in the state, noting that Glorious FM is the second private radio station established in the State under the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
"The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State Council is deeply pleased to witness this auspicious occasion of the official commissioning of Glorious 88.3FM today. The establishment of this Private Radio station, which is the second of its kind in Ebonyi State, is another remarkable achievement in the development of the Media industry in our dear State. For us as a Council, it's a thing of joy because this is going to further strengthen the Media workforce in the State for a better service to the people of Ebonyi State and beyond.
"The Ebonyi State Council of NUJ, therefore, wishes to Congratulate the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of this sterling Media Outfit, Sir Dr Edward Nkwegu for extending his investments to the Media sector.
"We also thank Ebonyi State government,t under the efficient leadership of Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, without which this gathering today wouldn't have been possible. This is the second Media outfit being commissioned by His Excellency, the Governor since he assumed office. This is a clear indication that the Governor is not just Media friendly but has set the ground running for the industrialization of Ebonyi State.
"We, therefore, seize this opportunity to call on our politicians and businessmen to take advantage of the enabling environment already created by the government of Ebonyi State to invest in the State, particularly in the media industry, as its advantages cannot be overemphasized.
"Finally, I want to urge the Management and Staff of Glorious FM to adhere strictly to the NUJ Code of Ethics in the discharge of their professional duties. In doing so, you will continue to sustain and enjoy the confidence of the people. On our part, we shall give you all the necessary support and cooperation to succeed".
