*Hold football competition
The prayer, which was held at the Women Development Center, Abakaliki, was part of the activities marking the 2024 Women's Day celebration.
The prayer, which had its theme "uplifting women with sustainable development," was witnessed by the first lady of the State Chief Mrs. Mary Maudline Uzomaka Nwifuru, Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Obila, among other dignitaries.
In their separate prayers, the pastor in charge of Christ Embassy Abakaliki, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi, chairman of the Women Wing Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Rita Okpaku, and Pastor Amadi all prayed to God to grant the first family of the state a successful eight years tenure and never allow any obstacle to stop them halfway.
They urged women in the State to use the wisdom God gave to them and promote their families, noting that the prayer submission would foster peace and unity in the State.
Pastor Amadi particularly charged the women to shun idolatry practices instead of being true worshipers of God and submit their problems to him for possible solutions.
The clerics further prayed for the prosperity and upliftment of Ebonyi people both at home and in the diaspora.
The event was used to celebrate the birthday of the former first lady of the state,e Chief (Mrs) Josephine Nwuzor Elech, where Mrs Nwifuru wished her many more fruitful and prosperous years ahead.
In brief remarks, Chief Mrs Elechi pledged to always support all the programs of the State First Lady
The event featured praises, worship, and choir by St. Peter's Anglican Church Okpaugwu.
Later on, the women embarked on a football competition at Pa-Ngele Oruta township stadium Abakaliki.
The football competition, which was kicked off by the State first lady, Chief (Mrs) Mary Maudline Uzomaka Nwifuru, involved judiciary versus House of Assemblywomen, secretaries versus vice chairmen of various local government Areas, exco spouses versus Chairpersons.
Meanwhile, the exco spouses got first position, judiciary second position whereas vice chairmen got third position.
The event attracted the presence of sports lovers including the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Obil, among other stakeholders.
