The spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being unable to move past what he described as its "monumental failure" during its 2018–2022 administration.
In a statement on Monday, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the governor, reacted to a birthday message from the APC, alleging that the party continues to attack Adeleke’s administration out of frustration and denial over the incumbent's performance.
“For four years, the APC tortured Osun workers and pensioners and tormented Osun people through deprivation of good governance,” Rasheed said; pointing out that, “Since Governor Adeleke assumed office in November 2022, Osun’s story has changed for the better.”
He cited achievements under Adeleke’s five-point agenda, including improvements in workers’ welfare, infrastructure, healthcare access, sports, education, and debt management. Rasheed claimed the governor has completed numerous abandoned projects and attracted both national and international commendations.
He pointed to recent assessments showing Osun had improved from 33rd to 7th position in the National Examination Council rankings and noted a 40 percent debt reduction reported by the Debt Management Office.
“Osun pensioners now enjoy free healthcare, billions have been paid in pensions and gratuities, and half-salaries are being cleared,” Rasheed stated, adding that, “Osun workers recently endorsed Governor Adeleke for a second term.”
The spokesperson criticized the APC’s leadership, claiming it continues to support individuals linked to past financial mismanagement and poor governance. He, however, praised President Bola Tinubu for extending a birthday message to the governor, contrasting it with the state APC’s stance.
“We can only advise the state APC to surrender ahead of 2026,” he hinted.
NATIONAL PANEL reports the statement reflects ongoing political tensions in Osun State as both major parties prepare for the next electoral cycle.
