The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has called on the Senator Bukola Saraki-led Reconciliation and Strategy Committee to expedite the expulsion of Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement signed by Barr Obinna Nwachukwu, Protem National Coordinator, CP-PDP on Monday, the CP-PDP praised current and former PDP governors for their efforts to stabilize the party but insisted that Chief Wike’s continued presence in the PDP is a major threat to party unity and credibility.
The group’s demand follows the outcome of the expanded stakeholders meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, May 11, 2025. According to the CP-PDP, Wike’s repeated public criticisms of the PDP, coupled with his open support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), make his expulsion necessary to restore order and discipline within the party.
"Chief Wike has persistently attacked the PDP and its leadership while openly aligning with the APC, including publicly endorsing APC candidates for the 2026 FCT Council Election and the 2027 Presidential Election," the statement read.
The CP-PDP also cited Wike’s renewed threats to take the party to court over its internal affairs as a further act of disloyalty, describing his attendance at the stakeholders’ meeting as "offensive" to loyal party members.
"The delay by the party leadership to invoke its constitutional powers and expel Chief Wike is demoralizing members and enabling anti-party activities," said CP-PDP Protem National Coordinator, Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu.
The Conference further warned against internal saboteurs aligning with Wike and urged the party to take disciplinary action against them. It also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to continue its impartial oversight of the PDP’s internal processes.
The CP-PDP concluded by urging all party members to remain resolute and resist efforts by pro-APC elements to destabilize the PDP, reaffirming its commitment to reclaiming political leadership for Nigerians in 2027.
