President Bola Tinubu has sworn in newly appointed commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) at a ceremony held Monday morning at the State House, Abuja.
The event took place shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Among the new INEC commissioners are Mallam Tukur Abdulrazaq Yusuf, representing the North West, and Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja from Ebonyi State in the South East.
Also sworn in were two members of the Code of Conduct Bureau: Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem of Cross River State and retired Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure from Taraba State.
The FEC meeting was attended by top government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Other key ministers present included Wale Edun (Finance and Economy), Senator Atiku Bagudu (Budget and Economic Planning), and Mohammed Idris (Information and National Orientation), among others.
This development comes a week after the May 5 FEC meeting, where the council approved the ‘Nigeria First’ Economic Policy aimed at boosting local content in government procurement.
