The Coordinator of Ebonyi Development Centre (DC) in Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi State, Dr Destiny Uchenna Nwodom has built a three-bedroom bungalow for an aged widow, Mrs Agnes Nwangbo whose thatched house was gutted to ashes last January due to fire outbreak in the area.
Nwodom also has built mini-bridges, drilled boreholes and paid bursaries to students with his administration's school building project currently at an advanced stage; among other projects in different villages and communities within the Ebonyi Development Centre.
Speaking while inaugurating the housing and mini-bridge projects on Tuesday at Omorodo Village in Agalegu Ishieke Community, the Executive Chairman of Ebonyi LGA, Prince Chinedu Uburu, commended Nwodom's performance in less than two years in office.
Uburu said the DC Coordinator's projects were in line with Governor Francis Nwifuru-led administration agenda anchored on the People's Charter of Needs.
The Ebonyi council boss commended the Coordinator for having stepped down Governor Nwifuru's leadership policies and programs to the grassroots to create more positive impacts on the rural dwellers.
"I want to thank you for these good works. The first project we commissioned today was a three-bedroom apartment for an aged widow. We are commending you highly, and I want to thank you for stepping down the People's Charter of Needs mantra of His Excellency, the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt Hon Builder Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru by making sure that development gets to the grassroots.
"We are aware that the people in this area have no accessible road before now. However, people can easily now transport their farm produce and other goods to the market as you have built these projects. These projects can equally boost the internally generated revenues of the local government area and that of the state.
"On this note, I charge other DC Coordinators to emulate him, because you can't do less. You must complement the administrative efforts of His Excellency, the governor by making sure people have a good life in rural communities.
"Let the people know that His Excellency can't disappoint them, and we can't disappoint them as well.
"Mr Coordinator, I appreciate you and I want to encourage you to keep it up. You may not know the good effects of these projects on the lives of the people but when you leave office, the people will begin to appreciate you. That's the type of democracy we have here, people don't appreciate those in authority but keep doing your best to touch humanity and God will continue to strengthen you," Uburu said.
In his remarks, the Ebonyi Development Centre Coordinator, Dr Destiny Uchenna Nwodom thanked Governor Francis Nwifuru for allowing him to impact meaningful life on the people. He also commended the Ebonyi Local Government Chairman, Prince Chinedu Uburu, saying that he has been borrowing leverage on his administrative policies and programs to impact the grassroots dwellers.
His words: "Under our stewardship, we have done much in infrastructure development. This is the third mini-bridges we have constructed.
"The other one was constructed at the other road leading to Nkaliki, and another one was constructed at the other axis. We have equally graded roads - one of them is from Nwambara to Ugbodo, the Ebonyi local government headquarters and another one is from Ossa-Motor to Ndiechi Ishieke village.
"We have built a three-bedroom flat for this aged widow whose house was burnt down by fire earlier this year. We are also building a primary school at Abarigwe Ishieke Village which is currently at an advanced stage. We have drilled boreholes at Ndioke Ishieke village. We paid bursaries to the students and did other social works in Ebonyi Development Centre to touch humanity."
Nwodom further explained that he executed the projects to complement the People's Charter of Needs mantra of Governor Nwifuru by stepping it down to the grassroots. "It was the governor's primary mandate to the coordinators and other grassroots leaders in the state to impact local dwellers' lives meaningfully," he added.
He thanked the people of Ebonyi Development Centre for their unwavering support to the Governor Nwifuru-led administration and assured them of more dividends of democracy while throwing their weight behind the APC-led government in the area.
Recall that the aged widow, Mrs Agnes Nwangbo has applauded the Ebonyi DC Coordinator, and described him as a Godsent leader who has been using his office to bring succour to the people, especially the venerable ones in the area.
In their goodwill messages, the Management Committee member in Ebonyi Development Centre - Cosmas Aleke, Omorodo Village Head - Chief Reuben Ugbala Ngama, the Village Youth President - Ikechukwu Nwibo and many others extolled the leadership style of Nwodom as their DC Coordinator, assuring him of their continuous support in his office.
They also commended the Ebonyi Council Chairman, Uburu for being very supportive of the growth and development of human beings and infrastructures in the area through the Development Centre Coordinator, Comrade Uchenna Nwodom.
They further described the Coordinator as the best among his equals in the state and promised that the people of Agalegu Ishieke Community would reciprocate the gesture through massive votes during elections.
