The Ebonyi State government has announced plans to establish a garment factory and multiple creative spaces aimed at driving job creation, youth empowerment, and cultural tourism.
The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Stanley Ogbuewu, stated this yesterday in Abakaliki in a chat with journalists, where he outlined his Ministry’s ambitious blueprint for transforming the sector.
According to Ogbuewu, the garment factory project, personally championed by him has received full approval from Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State and was publicly announced during a recent church service. "This factory will not only generate jobs but also boost local enterprise and empower young talents," he stated.
In addition to the factory, the Ministry has completed designs for several creative hubs, including hotels, resorts, and performance spaces, all of which are geared toward developing Ebonyi’s growing arts and culture scene.
“These are not just buildings; they are platforms for innovation, tourism, and economic growth,” Ogbuewu noted. “We’re ready to roll them out as soon as funding is secured," he explained.
The Commissioner also called on private investors, cultural promoters, and development partners to collaborate with the government in turning these transformative projects into reality.
"With these new initiatives," the Commissioner said, "Ebonyi is positioning itself as not just a cultural destination, but a center for creative industry and economic development."
