Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at the weekend condemned politicians who defected to rival parties after receiving electoral support, describing the act as the “greatest political sin” in a democracy.
Kwankwaso made the statement at his residence on Miller Road, Kano, while receiving new members from Takai Local Government Area of Kano South who defected to the NNPP.
The event followed a series of recent high-profile defections from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila and Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, who represents the Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure federal constituency.
Reflecting on past electoral experiences, Kwankwaso said the 2019 and 2023 general elections had provided valuable lessons for the movement.
He stated that the group had emerged more experienced and resilient as a result.
