In a profound demonstration of compassionate leadership, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, paid a surprise visit to the David Umahi Federal Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) in Uburu, Ebonyi State—leaving behind a legacy of love, healing, and renewed faith.
Quietly arriving at midday, Senator Umahi was met with spontaneous jubilation as hospital staff and patients welcomed him with warmth and gratitude.
Unlike a typical political courtesy call, his visit was deeply personal—marked by empathy, prayer, and encouragement. He walked through every ward, listened to patients’ stories, and offered heartfelt words of hope and healing.
In an extraordinary act of generosity, Senator Umahi gave N100,000 to every patient in the hospital. For those already discharged but unable to pay their bills, he personally settled their outstanding payments.
He also distributed gift items to indigent patients, sparking joy in faces long worn by illness and uncertainty.
His message to the patients was soul-stirring: “Never lose faith. Your healing lies not only in medicine, but in the power of God and the strength within you.”
Umahi reassured them of the government's commitment to improving healthcare and ending the era of medical tourism by equipping local hospitals to global standards.
He also called on Nigerians, especially those in the South East, to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, affirming that the government has noble plans for the region and the nation at large.
For many, the visit was more than kind—it was transformational. Chief Chukwu Ikpo, a motorcycle accident survivor, described the Minister as “a God-sent, a selfless leader with a heart of gold.”
His gratitude echoed the sentiments of many who now feel seen, supported, and valued.
Senator Umahi’s visit went beyond politics—it was a testimony of how true leadership manifests through action and empathy.
His steps through DUFUTH were steps of healing, hope, and humanity—reminding us all that even in trying times, compassion still lights the way.
