President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Chief Boniface Iziogo, a respected community leader from Ishieke Mgbomeze in Ebonyi State, as the Member representing the South East geopolitical zone on the Board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
Chief Iziogo, popularly known as Nwachimereze 1, has long been recognized as a pillar of his community, Mbeke Ishieke in Ebonyi LGA, serving as a mentor, advisor, and political ally to many, including grassroots leaders and political figures in Ebonyi State.
His elevation to this national role is seen as a reward for decades of service, integrity, and leadership.
Reacting to the appointment, a political associate described Chief Iziogo as "a rare gem of Ishieke Mgbomeze" who has consistently shown "fatherly care, wise counsel, and unwavering support in both political and personal matters."
The appointment was facilitated through the efforts of Distinguished Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone.
Senator Nwebonyi was praised for his instrumental role in ensuring that the South East region secures a strategic voice in the North Central Development Commission.
"This is a divine elevation made possible by God and the visionary leadership of Senator Nwebonyi. Chief Iziogo’s appointment is a source of pride and joy for the people of Ishieke Mgbomeze and the entire South East," the associate added.
Chief Iziogo is expected to bring his wealth of experience and grassroots insight to bear in his new position, contributing to the developmental agenda of the North Central region and fostering inter-regional collaboration.
