On noble media concern for victims Of mass killings across the Nigeria nation, Lawrence Egede writes.
As the countdown to Nigeria’s 2027 general elections begins, a toxic wave of political appointments and silent deals is sweeping across the Nigeria, casting a dangerous shadow over national unity, security, and the soul of the republic.
The alarming truth is that these appointments veiled as democratic dividends have begun to manifest as poisonous promises, laced with blood-stained intentions.
What we are witnessing is not just politicking, but an unfolding conspiracy of silence and compromise that endangers millions of lives for the sake of power.
If only we could see beyond the glamour of office. If only we could listen to how the spirits of justice, truth and conscience interpret the wicked happenings across the country, we would be sobered by the scale of evil engulfing our land.
Appointments are now being used not to serve, but to hypnotize. Like bait laced with poison, Nigerians are being given positions, offices, and platforms—not for nation-building, but as payback for political allegiance ahead of 2027.
These are not appointments of competence, but instruments of manipulation—tools meant to lull the public into silence while the architects of chaos design a future soaked in blood.
Can’t we see this for what it is—a deliberate plan against Nigeria? While political jobbers smile for cameras, the real Nigeria—the crying, bleeding, burning Nigeria is left gasping for help that never comes.
Nigeria is boiling. From Plateau to Zamfara, Benue to Imo, innocent Nigerians are being slaughtered daily, their blood flowing like polluted rivers. Yet, the ruling class continues to feast. Political appointments are handed out like tokens in a dying carnival, as if the nation is not burning.
How can leaders dine in luxury while their people are buried in mass graves?
Where is our collective conscience?
Is this the democracy we fought for? Is power more precious than peace? Is the price of a Senate seat worth the life of a child gunned down in cold blood?
If only the killings arrived at the doorsteps of the elite, would they still enjoy their air-conditioned offices? Would they still nod at “zonal balance” while the children of the poor are kidnapped, beheaded, and buried without justice?
Let’s ask ourselves—if you woke up tomorrow to find your entire community wiped out, would a political appointment console you?
The voices of victims—those who survived attacks, those who lost loved ones are rising. They cry out not just for help, but for justice. And yet, the country plays deaf.
It is time we say NO to the poison of political appointments and call on the international community, global media, and human rights institutions to pay urgent attention to Nigeria’s silent war. The bloodbath must not continue unchallenged.
We must recognize the gallantry of the Armed Forces holding the line between civilization and total collapse. But even they cannot do it alone. This is a national emergency—a moral call to awaken from our hypnotic political slumber.
Let us remember: power means nothing if your people are dying. A future of elections soaked in blood is not a democracy—it is a nightmare.
Before 2027 arrives, let us act. Let us rise. Let us reject the poisoned wine of political positioning and demand peace, justice, and human dignity.
May God intervene.
May Nigeria rise again.
