A bus conveying officials of Abakaliki FC was involved in a road accident in Ore, Ondo State, on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025.
The accident occurred at about 11:20 a.m. while the team was returning to Ebonyi State from Lagos after participating in the 2025 Presidential Federation Cup Final.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident was caused by a brake failure, which led the bus to crash into the rear of a moving truck.
The front of the vehicle was significantly damaged, but all passengers onboard escaped unhurt.
A source within the team confirmed that no one sustained injuries and that all officials are in good condition.
“We thank God there was no casualty. Everyone is fine, and we are continuing our journey back to Ebonyi,” the source said.
Abakaliki FC had featured in the final match of the prestigious national football competition on Saturday, June 28, in Lagos.
