Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori has emerged as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Dalori, who was the Deputy National Chairman (North), officially assumed leadership of the ruling party on Friday, June 27, shortly after Ganduje stepped down, citing health-related reasons.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, with members of the National Working Committee (NWC), state party executives, and top stakeholders in attendance. Dalori took the oath of office amid cheers and assurances of loyalty from party leaders.
In his remarks, Dalori pledged to uphold unity, discipline, and inclusiveness within the party. He assured members of a transparent process leading to the APC National Convention slated for December 2025.
Ganduje’s resignation, confirmed via an internal communication to the NWC, came as a surprise to many within the party. In his farewell message, the former Kano State Governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC for the opportunity to serve.
A seasoned politician from Borno State, Dalori is known for his calm demeanor and strategic approach. He has been instrumental in post-election reconciliation efforts within the party and is expected to play a key role in repositioning the APC ahead of upcoming elections.
Observers see Dalori’s emergence as a move aimed at restoring internal stability and strengthening party structures ahead of crucial electoral contests.
