In celebration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Comrade Sunday Nwambam, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ebonyi State on Inter-Party Affairs, has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his exemplary leadership, inclusive governance, and unwavering commitment to democratic values in a heartfelt goodwill message released on Wednesday.
In the message, which was addressed to the Governor and shared with journalists in Abakaliki, Nwambam extended warm felicitations to the people and government of Ebonyi State, as well as Nigerians at large, on the occasion of the nation’s annual commemoration of democratic governance.
He described Democracy Day as a moment for reflection and rededication to the core tenets of democracy—justice, equity, and people-centered governanc and used the opportunity to laud Governor Nwifuru for translating these principles into tangible progress across the state.
"Your Excellency, under your visionary leadership anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs, Ebonyi State has witnessed a renaissance in transparent, inclusive, and accountable governance.
"You have demonstrated that democracy is not merely a system of government, but a vehicle for development, inclusion, and human dignity," he said.
Nwambam paid glowing tribute to the First Lady of Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, for her passionate humanitarian efforts through the BERWO initiative.
According to him, her maternal leadership has complemented the governor's vision by empowering the vulnerable and enriching the state’s democratic fabric with compassion and purpose.
Highlighting the collective strength of the administration, he commended the contributions of other key government officials, including the Deputy Governor of the state, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa; Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene; and the State Executive Council members for their unwavering commitment to institutional integrity and effective governance.
Nwambam recognized the efforts of lawmakers at both the state and national levels, community leaders, and the resilient people of Ebonyi State, whom he described as the true custodians of the state’s democratic progress.
"Today, Ebonyi stands out as a beacon of democratic maturity and political harmony where opposition voices are respected, diverse opinions are embraced, and governance is delivered without bias or partisanship.
"This is a direct reflection of Governor Nwifuru’s principled, people-first leadership style," he added.
As the nation celebrates its uninterrupted democratic journey for the 26 years, Nwambam urged citizens to continue upholding the values of unity, dialogue, and active civic participation. He expressed hope that the gains of democracy would be further consolidated under Governor Nwifuru’s watch in Ebonyi State.
“May our dear state continue to thrive under your leadership, and may our democratic journey grow ever deeper, stronger, and more inclusive,” Nwambam concluded.
