The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has expressed profound joy following Kwara United Football Club’s historic victory in the 2025 President Federation Cup final held in Lagos.
In what he described as a “remarkable feat,” the Governor joined the jubilant Harmony Boys at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where they defeated Abakaliki FC in a nail-biting encounter — securing Kwara’s first-ever national cup win since the state’s creation in 1967.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy as I joined Harmony Boys of Kwara United this evening in Lagos to bring home the 2025 President Federation Cup — the first time any team from our state has ever won the prestigious trophy,” AbdulRazaq said.
The Governor extended heartfelt commendations to the players, coaching crew, management of Kwara United, the State Sports Commission, and the supporters' club, describing the triumph as a testament to unity, discipline, and determination.
He also lauded Kwarans both at home and in the diaspora for their massive support throughout the tournament.
The victory in football, he noted, comes alongside another major milestone — Kwara’s contingent emerging national champions at the Senior President Debate Competition for the first time in history. According to the Governor, this builds on the state’s impressive record of three consecutive wins in the President School Debate Competition under the Universal Basic Education program.
“These victories are not accidental,” AbdulRazaq emphasized. “They are the deserving fruits of strategic investments in youth development, sports, education, and other critical sectors.”
He congratulated all Kwarans on the multiple successes, pledging that the state would continue to shine nationally and globally through excellence and purposeful governance.
