Hon. Egbe Stephen Chinoso, a former Ebonyi State House of Assembly aspirant and current Special Assistant to the Ishielu Local Government Chairman on Youth Mobilization, has extolled the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Stanley Lebechi Mbam, for his outstanding performance in delivering quality road infrastructure across the state.
Speaking to journalists during a recent media briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital, Egbe commended the Commissioner’s dedication to realizing the developmental vision of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, especially in line with the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs.
“Engr. Mbam has demonstrated exceptional leadership in overseeing numerous road projects. Several of these have already been commissioned, while others are at various advanced stages of completion,” Egbe said.
Addressing public concerns regarding the scale and complexity of the ongoing Vanco Junction Flyover project, he explained that the initiative is far more than a typical overpass.
“The Vanco project includes a one-kilometer tunnel, a 28-span bridge, and other major infrastructure components. This project is the first of its kind in the South East, designed to transform the urban landscape of Abakaliki. While some people question its necessity, similar projects in the past—once doubted are now landmarks in our state’s progress.”
He expressed confidence that the project, with a 24-month completion timeline, will be delivered within schedule. “We are only nine months into this administration, and I believe Engr. Mbam and his team will complete the project on time, given their current pace and commitment.”
He also lauded the supervision efforts by the Ministry of Works, noting that strict adherence to specifications has helped maintain high construction standards. “The Ministry is doing a commendable job in ensuring quality control across all ongoing projects,” he added.
Beyond major roadways, Egbe acknowledged the Commissioner’s efforts in upgrading streets and internal roads within the Abakaliki capital territory, which he said is contributing significantly to the state’s urban renewal and beautification drive.
Egbe also called on residents to remain patient and supportive, assuring them that the state government’s investments in infrastructure will soon yield long-term benefits for all citizens of Ebonyi State.
