The Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senator Ken Eze said that the new tax reform which have been passed by the National Assembly will block leakages, stop double taxation, put together a unitary taxation and a tax system that works and stabilize the economy.
The bill which is waiting to be assented by President Tinubu according to Sen Eze was properly scrutinize by members of the National Assembly before it passage adding that it a job well done.
Chatting with journalists yesterday in his country home at Onueke Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi state, Senator Eze who is also Chairman Senate Committee on Information maintained that the tax bill is gear towards improving the economy of the country, described it as one of the critical achievement of President Tinubu.
He noted that Nigerian will be happy with that bill after assent by Mr. President because we have been able to analyze it, subject it to all sorts of tests and remove those areas we feel may not go well with Nigerians and add areas we think we can improve on it.
Eze maintained that it will sanitize the system adding that collection of taxes from poor market women taking their produce to market will stop and poor farmers can enjoy the proceeds from their farm without paying everything to the tax collectors.
He said: "We are talking about tax amendment bill which have been passed by National Assembly because waiting to be assent by Mr. President will block leakages, stop double taxation, put together a unitary taxation and tax system that works. All these are geared towards improving the economy of the country".
"We were able to analyze it, drill it, subject it to all sorts of tests, removed those areas we feel may not go well with Nigerians and added areas we think we can improve on it so I believe Nigerians will be happy when this new tax system is fully implemented. Everybody will be happy".
"Down to the grassroots, where you see the poor market women taking their produce to market. There are so many people collecting different taxes. These things will be stopped".
